This year, we did something totally different.
You see, in the past, OPA held in-person events, our team produced in-person award videos, and everyone could be in one place at one time.
Everyone's always been comfortable with running events that way. It was the status quo.
But this year, we took everything 100% virtual.
Not just virtual mind you. Not a live event held online.
We took everything 100% virtual AND on-demand.
By doing this, we were able to break all kinds of "rules":
1) By embracing virtual productions, we were able to schedule and shoot virtual interviews with 14 high-profile leaders over 3 days (in-person scheduling would have been a big challenge)
2) By focusing on story and emotion and letting go of technical quality, we designed and created a mobile-first strategy. From the videos to the thumbnails, the emails to the landing page - everything created for a social-driven experience
3) By shifting from a "bring everyone to us" to a "take this message out to our community" approach, we paired sequenced email releases with organic and promoted posts to get the word out
4) By creating social takeovers for each platform, all week long every point of contact ties back to the awards
But most of all, we focused on creating authentic and meaningful content that rang true to the leaders we profiled, the community we connected with, and the visionary organization we represented.
