Is it:

1. The random collection of things at the bottom of a handbag.

2. A little town near Port Macquarie, Australia.

3. Marinated goats cheese balls originating from Tuscany, Italy.

We’ve had a bit of a dramatic week… older son with Covid… luckily not too bad. Younger son fell badly at school — on his face! Luckily no surgery needed. But stressful. Wrote this little poem after Ramak was telling me how she was feeling about it… from Ramak’s perspective. It’s called:

Waiting in Emergency for hours with your child

My heart’s as thin
as a teabag string

taught –
weighed down
by sodden leaves

taught what?
what am I learning from this?

this being dunked
again and again
in hot water

I love
the sweet aromas
the grassy notes
the caress of caffeine
of these cured leaves

but what’s the cure
for letting love
leave your body?

My heart’s as thin
as a teabag string

sometimes
the astringent vulnerability
of having one’s child
wander free
in a bitter world

is not my cup of tea

Wanna read some poems?

I’ve got a suite of four poems called Running Backwards (across dunes of hourglass sand) and I suppose I’d love to see what a few people thought of it. It’s themes: heartbreak, choice — lack-of and proactive, and the vagaries of memory. If you’d like to read this new poetry of mine, let me know… and I can share it with you.

‘Am I in heaven or is my flash too bright?’
Exhibition now open!
I had a lovely group of people help me welcome this set of images and words into the world. Thank you to Bronwyn Ward for curating and enabling me to share my work in this beautiful space. And thank you to all those who came along. It was so lovely to share my wine, my whiteness and my wondering with you.
And even if you missed out, by not being at the launch… you too can go and see the exhibition up until the end of June at the memo in Healesville

Am I looking back to the beginning of the tunnel, or looking forward to the end of the tunnel?
The way you are facing
is not the only way.
