Intel and How Autonomous Driving Will Fix the Electric Car Problem

I was in Israel last week to tour Intel’s impressive facilities there. While most of the trip was focused on Intel’s Israel Development Center (IDC), there was also a presentation on Intel’s Mobileye facility in Israel. This division, which will eventually spin into an IPO (a move that will have to wait until the market recovers) is the group that drove Intel’s autonomous car efforts.

At the end of the day, I got my first drive in a car that drove itself and I will walk you through that experience in a moment. It is interesting to note that the opening presentations covered Intel’s recent supercomputer and quantum computer successes, following their August rollout of Quantum Supremacy simulations.

Vivo X Fold+ will launch in China on September 26 at 7pm local time (4:30pm IST), the company announced today. Vivo has also shared a marketing poster of the upcoming foldable smartphone, which reveals that it will feature a quad rear camera setup with an LED flash. An alert slider also appears on the left spine of the handset when unfolded. The new Vivo X Fold+ will at least come in Blue and Red colour options.

Isolation from friends and other factors during the pandemic contributed to a significant increase in screen use by tweens and teens from pre-pandemic levels.

Common Sense Media — a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families — in March released a detailed report showing that screen use in 2021 increased far faster than it had in the previous four years. That usage for tweens was six times more in the past two years.

The pandemic was likely a major contributor to changes in screen use. Platforms like TikTok have continued to swell in popularity and may also be driving increased use, according to the study.

Researchers sought details on whether there were any lasting differences in young people’s use of screen media as society began to open up again in the fall of 2021. They focused on U.S. tweens (ages eight to 12) and teens (ages 13 to 18) and the time they spent using digital devices apart from time spent doing online classes and homework.

Events that are streamed live on the net are growing in popularity among internet households, especially live sports, according to a study released by Parks Associates.

The report, “Livestreaming: The Next Hot Video Market,” indicates that more than 40% of U.S. internet households have streamed content over the past three months. More than three out of five households (61%) were watching a streaming sports event.

The study also found that consumers who livestream spend about half their online video time watching live events.

Israeli app monetization developer ironSource (NYSE: IS) and US 3D computer games platform Unity Software (NYSE: U) are moving forward with their merger, after Unity dismissed an offer two weeks ago from AppLovin for a merger, on condition that it canceled its merger with ironSource. At the end of last week, Unity filed a detailed document with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) calling for a shareholders meeting of the two companies to approve the merger, although no date for the meeting has yet been set.
