Losing Dort, as well as depth options Wiggins and Joe, will make the Thunder worse in the 2026-27 regular season; such is life in a second apron world. They're betting that their playoff quality will remain high enough to justify the cost savings and asset reallocation that this trade provides. That bet may well pay off, but it's also the riskiest one the Thunder have made in a couple of years.
