Rand Abou-Fakher ( ) takes on the leading role in our latest production, Tender Threads, playing Reema, a new mother navigating postpartum life, caught between exhaustion, love, and the weight of family expectations.

Rand Abou Fakher (b. 1995, Syria) is a filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist working across fiction and hybrid practices, whose storytelling is held within form rather than explained. Her films construct a cinema of proximity, where intimacy unfolds within fractured temporalities and shifting spatial relations. Her short films Braided Love (2018) and So We Live (2020) premiered at international festivals, including the Sarajevo Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale Shorts). The latter received multiple awards. Her debut hybrid feature Why Do I See You in Everything? (2026) premiered at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, marking her first feature-length work as both director and producer. She is currently developing her fiction feature On the Way to Forgive I Forgot Myself, which participated in Torino Film Lab, 2024. She is also active as a film curator and cutter, programming for ALFILM - Arab Film Festival Berlin.

Areen Omari takes on the role of Salma in Tender Threads, our latest production. She is portraying Reema’s mother, a woman who embodies both care and conviction. Nurturing yet firm, Salma carries a quiet strength, offering guidance and support while holding onto the traditions that shape her world.

Born in Nazareth and based in Ramallah and Paris, Areen Omari is a Palestinian actress, filmmaker, and producer with a long-standing presence in both regional and international cinema. Her work spans decades, with notable roles in films such as The Other Son and Laila’s Birthday, establishing her as a deeply respected figure in Palestinian storytelling.

With a career rooted in both film and theatre, Areen brings a grounded, human depth to her performances, approaching each role with a sensitivity that reflects the complexity of the lives and histories she represents.

Aanstaande donderdag brengen vijf getalenteerde acteurs het script van Dandalunda Adrift tot leven, een korte hybride film met animatie en live-action van schrijver Lemba de Miranda. ( )

Neidi dos Santos Livramento, Melissa Fortes, Erik van Welzen, Kimberley Agyarko en Leovegildo Vieira lezen scènes uit dit magisch-realistische verhaal.
Dandalunda adrift gaat over een verdwaalde en vergeten watergodin die contact probeert te maken met een Angolees-Rotterdamse vrouw die niet meer weet waar ze thuis is. Samen verkennen ze wat het betekent om je weer thuis te voelen en hoe de band tussen goden en mensen opnieuw vorm kan krijgen.

Salim Daw takes on the role of Imad in our production, Tender Threads, portraying Reema’s father, a man who is deeply loving, yet at times unaware of the weight of his words and habits.

Born in Bi’ina in the Galilee, Salim Daw is a Palestinian actor whose career spans theatre, film, and television over several decades. He trained at the Beit Zvi School for the Performing Arts and further developed his craft at the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris. Known for his versatility, he has appeared in numerous international productions, including , where he portrayed Mohamed Al-Fayed, a performance that brought him wider global recognition.

His film and television work also includes roles in Oslo, Gaza Mon Amour, Let it Be Morning, Avanti Popolo, reflecting a body of work rooted in both regional and international storytelling.

Today we introduce Karim Anaya ( ) , who plays Amir in Tender Threads, our newest production, portraying a man stepping into the unfamiliar terrain of fatherhood.

Karim Anaya is a Palestinian actor born in Qalqilya who is based in Berlin, known for his expressive physicality and emotionally nuanced performances.

He began his artistic journey through parkour, discovering movement as a form of storytelling, a foundation that later shaped his path into theatre and film.

A long-time member of the Maxim Gorki Theater, he has spent nearly a decade building a stage career defined by movement, presence, and depth. His recent work includes his feature debut as Yusuf in Annemarie Jacir’s award-winning film Palestine 36, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and was selected as Palestine’s official submission to the Academy Awards.

Karim’s growing body of work reflects an artistic curiosity that moves between stage and screen, exploring transformation, emotion, and the shared language of storytelling across cultures.

For the Dutch short film Dandalunda adrift by Dutch-Angolan writer-director Lemba de Miranda and producer Dewi Reijs of Buddy Film Production, we are in search of two voice actresses for the following two roles:
Lundi: a water goddess, Angolan Portuguese-speaking

Shola/ grandmother: Angolan Portuguese-speaking

It is important that the voice actors have or can produce an Angolan Portuguese accent. Dutch-language skills are not required.

Het verhaal
De Angolese watergodin Lundi, ooit vereerd maar inmiddels vergeten, wordt door een oceanisch wormgat gezogen en komt terecht in de Nieuwe Maas in Rotterdam. In haar zoektocht naar huis probeert zij contact te maken met de Angolees-Rotterdamse Kixi, die al 20 jaar in Rotterdam woont. Kixi’s oma is net overleden en door de rouw weet Kixi niet meer goed waar zij thuis is. Als de twee elkaar ontmoeten, leren zij wat het betekent om zich ergens weer thuis te voelen en hoe goden en mensen hun verbondenheid kunnen verdiepen.
