To conclude the three-day conference of the Philippine Web3 Festival, Peter Ing, the CEO of BlockchainSpace (BSPC), tackled the future of web3 in the country as he sat on the final segment of the event in a one-on-one discussion with Kat Gonzales of YGG Pilipinas, the Philippine arm of Yield Guild Games (YGG).

The PH Web3 Fest is a week-long event held from November 14–18, featuring the most important creators and personalities in web3 today. It is held in celebration of the country as the global leader and epicenter of web3.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has granted Direct Agent 5 Inc. (DA5) licenses to operate as a Non-Bank Electronic Money Issuer (EMI), Virtual Assets Service Provider (VASP), and Type A Advanced Electronic Payment and Financial Services (EPFS).

DA5 is now the 20th entity with a VASP license, the 43rd non-financial banking institution with an EMI license, and the ninth company to hold both a VASP and a Non-Bank EMI license, according to publicly available documents, Gorriceta – Africa Cauton & Saavedra, DA5’s law firm said in a statement sent to BitPinas.

DA5 has a network of 1,800 locations throughout the country and is a leading authorized direct agent of Western Union in the Philippines.

In addition to the new licenses, the company already operates as a Remittance and Transfer Company through its existing licenses:

Remittance Agent License (RA),
Money Changing/Foreign Exchange Dealing License (MC/FXD),

This is the advertisement of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) as it highlights the advantages of giving digital cash gifts this holiday season.

“Ninongs, ninangs, and other gift-givers who intend to give cash as pamasko, as well as Filipinos who want to donate to charitable institutions, can transmit money conveniently through a wide array of digital payment channels available in the country,” the monetary authority explained.

According to the Central Bank, gift givers can consider giving digital cash gifts through interbank fund transfers through InstaPay and PESONet, electronic money issuers that are more commonly known as e-wallets, and QRPh, “which entails code scanning and offers consumers faster, easier, and cheaper payment options.”

Voyager Digital, the bankrupt crypto lender, said Binance.US has agreed to buy its assets for $1.022 billion, the firm said on Monday.
The bid represents the fair market value of Voyager's cryptocurrency portfolio, which has a current market value of around $1.002 billion, and an additional consideration of $20 million in incremental value.
"The Binance.US bid aims to return crypto to customers in kind, in accordance with court-approved disbursements and platform capabilities," Voyager said in the statement.

For just 77 seconds, the 1,000-piece non-fungible token (NFT) collection of six-time Chicago Bull champion Scottie Pippen was sold out, the fastest sales record in the NFT marketplace OpenSea since Anthony Hopkins’ 1,000-piece NFT collection that was sold within seven minutes.

“After an amazing year for Orange Comet, selling out this iconic NFT collection and beating our previous record with Sir Anthony Hopkins’ drop is an incredible way to close out 2022 and a true testament to the work our team puts into the creation of these collections,” Orange Comet CEO and co-founder Dave Broome said in a statement. Orange Comet was responsible for both the former NBA legend’s and Hopkins’ collections.

Reddit’s push into tokenized avatars has been a rare bright spot amid declining NFT sales and a wider crypto market in turmoil, and now the Polygon-based initiative has marked a new milestone with more than 5 million of the collectibles minted to date.

The Reddit Collectible Avatars NFT initiative crossed the 5 million mark over the past 24 hours, according to blockchain data curated on a Dune dashboard. They’re not highly concentrated among high-value NFT collectors (or whales), either, as the project has more than 4.25 million total unique wallets. About 3.95 million of those wallets hold a single Reddit NFT.
