Exhausted but have a HUGE todo list? Me too! Check out these time saving tips I use religiously!
Time Blocking: Allocate specific blocks of time for different tasks or types of work. This technique helps you focus deeply on one task at a time without distractions. Use tools like calendars or task management apps to schedule time blocks for activities such as emails, meetings, focused work, and breaks. By organizing your day into structured time blocks, you can enhance productivity and manage your workload effectively.
Use the Two-Minute Rule: Adopted from David Allen’s “Getting Things Done,” the Two-Minute Rule suggests that if a task takes less than two minutes to complete, do it right away. This rule helps prevent small tasks from accumulating and causing mental clutter. By promptly addressing quick tasks as they arise, you free up mental energy and maintain momentum throughout your day. Also, the OHIO it rule! Only handle it once! Get that off your to do list!!
Implement the “Eat That Frog!” Technique: This concept, popularized by Brian Tracy, encourages tackling your most challenging or important task first thing in the morning. By completing your most daunting task early in the day, you set a positive tone for the rest of your tasks and minimize procrastination. Breaking down big tasks into smaller, actionable steps can make daunting projects more manageable and boost your overall productivity. I try to clean the house first thing in the morning. That way by the end of the day I am just spot cleaning!
