A few I forgot to mention in the carousel:

— When script fonts are in all caps. Please don’t.

— When I land on the site and an SMS popup appears, a 10% off discount appears, a “join our newsletter!!” popup appears. All one after another. I’m overstimulated, goodbye!!

— When you’ve smushed all the sections together and now there’s no white space aka no room for your website to breathe.

The best websites aren’t just “pretty” — they’re clear, intentional, personality-packed, easy to navigate and built to make your dream clients think “oh thank goodness, finally.”

And that’s the difference between a website that sits there looking exciting expensive…

And a website that actually helps you get booked.

WordPress has a reputation problem. And I get it. I believed all of this too. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Then I actually learned it (the right way) and it quite literally changed my whole business: how I price projects, how much fun I have while designing, the clients I booked. Everything.

The platform was never the problem. The way you’ve heard to use it was.

I think people who can code are awesome. But my brain just doesn’t work that way.

I was told for so long that if I can’t code as a web designer that I would never make any money…
