Magazine Editing - 'Nesat Chronicles'

This newly established village and community that I've been involved in wanted to create a little magazine filled with useful info about the area and fun things for people to enjoy, so I collaborated with some of the villagers and other designers to create their first magazine ‘Nesat Chronicles’
Everyone gave me information to be included and I put it all together and designed the layout to make it into the finished product ready for printing. We were all so excited to see it printed! It looks amazing in real life, we did a good job!......................................

The ‘Nesat Chronicles’ couldn’t just stop at one as there was even more info that needed to be included and people wanted adverts for their businesses as the magazine was a hit! This time I worked a lot with my good friend Claire from , she helped by creating some of the adverts and maps which made my job of organising the design and layout a lot easier and less time consuming

3rd Edition - With the festival happening in the village shortly after the deadline for vol 3, there was a lot to put in this one. Again I worked closely with the villagers to get the correct updated info and with Claire who was an angel at getting me the info, ads and maps that I needed so I could put everything together ready for printing.

Figuring out the order of pages is definitely a mind workout but by making little mock ups of the magazine and playing with the order they all came out brilliantly. There will be many more and soon hopefully in colour!!

River Ravers - Logo, SMM and promotional material

For this project, I created the logo and marketing materials for a well-known crew who DJ and produce music all around Cambodia. They are from the Goa and the Otres eras, as well as the underground Berlin music scene.
The River Ravers was a weekly party held on a boat in Kampot that cruised down the river for sunset and went on into the night. As you can see, I was inspired by the old-skool rave scene and gave the logo a bright pink colour to fit with the boat's neon pink lights. Branding, baby! 🤩

It was great fun to be a part of this event, especially since I am close with the crew and have known them since my early days as a fire performer in Cambodia many years ago.

I helped them by setting up and managing the social media account and kept it updated with pictures and videos from past boat parties. In order to draw in a crowd, I also made a poster that was distributed across Kampot and other cities.

With just a couple more weeks of promotion and continued social media presence it could have been a really successful ongoing event. However we witnessed many beautiful sunsets and many happy party people joined us on our weekly cruise.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim, a Welsh photographer, on a little island off the coast of Cambodia. Since we first met, we have stayed close friends and constantly encourage and motivate each other in our individual crafts.

Jim captures breathtaking landscapes, then creates frames, prints, and mountings by hand. He sells his work at craft fairs, online and at exhibitions. So of course I worked my genie magic and made some marketing materials for him as well as aided in his brand development and online presence. For his stall, we started with signs and business cards.

In order to provide Jim more of an online presence and a platform to sell his photographs, I also created him a basic Shopify website, watermarked all the photographs and placed them into various categories with special attention to ensuring that ideal SEO was in place from the outset.

His website is visited everyday by visitors from all around the world so we clearly did something right!

It's also fantastic that he recently expanded into the Etsy market. For this venture I made a few mockups for him and showed him how to make them on his own, giving him complete control over how everything looks but still remains true to the brand and vibe he is putting out there.

"LLFitness is all about health. Personal training, nutrition, and physiotherapy are our way to a better, healthier lifestyle."

This is a well known high end gym in Phnom Penh who were recommended to me from a previous client. 💪

They needed their logo altering and perfecting as it wasn’t inline and as aesthetically pleasing as it should be and they need it to look amazing and be ready in all variations and file types for printing. So I modified their current logo for their new gym location meaning they could create signs and utilise it on merchandise and business documents. As you can see, it has a very clean and minimalistic style and is a really luxurious place.

They also hired me to create brand-new business cards with their existing logo and branding. They showed me a few examples of designs they liked, which helped me understand their chosen aesthetic and decide the best direction I should go in to create them something that fits perfectly to their brand identity.

They wanted sleek, clean and following their brand's strict guidelines.

All the client's staff now have their own posh, personalised business cards, and both the client and I were very pleased with the final result. It's always rewarding to watch your efforts come to fruition and your designs be used as intended. It was also a good lesson in patience and perfection.

If you need cards for your business I am more than happy to help you design something that fits you and your brand but also something that stands out from the crowd! Send me a message with your ideas 🤩

This was a really fun project and one I am pretty proud of. For this client I got to go full on cheese mode to make a poster and social images for an Oktoberfest event in Kampot. The brief was make it cheesy, German, including pretzels, the sponsored beers and Jägermeister logos and Bavarian blue…….It ticked all the boxes and as cheesy as it is, I actually really like it and so did the Jägermeister team who I also had the opportunity to work. I also had the pleasure of meeting some of their team during the event.

Rubbing shoulders with the big kids! 😝

For the first part of the event there was a boat party along the river for the sunset with a variety of German drinks and snacks. You can see here the beautiful organiser modeling the sign I designed and one of the German beers. Doesn't she look lovely! 😍

For this Finnish client I had a challenge as I don’t have a clue about the roof painting business in Finland and what people want to see that would entice them to choose a certain company. Of course I did my research as always but I just had a feeling that I knew what was needed and what it would look like from the moment we first spoke and it turned out exactly as I thought and was exactly what he wanted!

It was also important for me to show him the possibilities of where and how his logo and brand can be used to promote his roof and house painting business so I made mockups with his logo to showcase some of the opportunities he could use to advertise himself. As with any tradie company having branded clothing shows professionalism and creates trust plus it’s free advertising because we all need to wear clothes right? (well especially in public!)

Going with your gut and listening to your intuition based on your clients ideas is where the magic really happens.

𝕋𝕙𝕖 𝕋𝕣𝕠𝕡𝕚𝕔𝕒𝕝 𝕋𝕒𝕣𝕕𝕚𝕤

Hannah is an incredible face and body painting artist who attends various festivals and events making peoples faces look even more amazing! This was her stall from Glastonbury Festival where she asked me to create a logo for her and then produced stickers from it to create her brand and promote her talents.

She gave me an awesome brief! “Just had an image pop into my head of a pineapple with disco ball skin at the bottom, fading into the top of the fruit, would something simple like that be possible? On a black circle background, with ‘The Tropical Tardis’ lettering around the circle?’’
💚💚 This is exactly the kind of job I love! 💚💚

Of course I'm not gonna leave someone with just a logo especially as I understand the importance of creating the right size images for socials to make sure that everything fits and the right information is presented straight away when someone clicks on your page. You have only a few seconds to express your brand and capture someone's attention to persuade them that they are in the right place.

All I can say is I love it, Hannah loves it and the Tropical Tardis is a magical little stall that you should definitely go and visit if you’re ever at Glastonbury festival.

While living on a little island in the south of Cambodia I found my love of fixing things. I went back to my roots of sewing and started a vintage and secondhand shop where I collected clothes from lost and found, backpackers and some charities (where I gave a donation) and repaired them, cleaned them up and sold them on or traded them for more clothes and fabrics.

The logo and poster design for my little business was a collaboration from a font I chose right at the beginning and painted on signs and then a dear friend spared me her skills to make a poster for me as I was far to busy sewing and keeping on top of social media, plus I didn’t have the confidence or clarity to design something for myself at this point.

Because I just can’t help but get my hands dirty I of course painted all my signs and built my shop displays myself with whatever I could find laying around that no one wanted. Recycling and upcycling is something I am extremely passionate about, there’s something about an object that has supposedly done it’s job that just screams to me to be used another way and live on!

When you have your own business of course you need to promote yourself so I put quite a lot of time and effort into capturing projects I was working on and creating an online presence for myself. It was something that was still fairly new to me at this point and I wasn’t very comfortable at first trying to figure out what people want to see and what is ‘worthy’............ but I just kept capturing and sharing and the likes and followers came rolling in. Looking back I am pleased with the amount I captured as there are some great memories and it really reminds me that with social media the key really is to be human and engage with people. As much as I enjoy seeing other peoples process and progress, seeing mine is also valued too!

The house of wisdom (aka Home of Flow) was a circus school in Otres Village, Cambodia where people from all over the world came to learn flow arts, how to spin fire and just generally be free to be a bit weird and have fun. We started as the house of wisdom with a very low budget and very basic hand drawn flyers and then progressed to a rebrand - The Home of Flow.

I can’t take full credit for the design work as I was mostly in charge of setting the place up, restoring the building, managing the place, promoting (including social media), painting signs and decorating the place. (It was a lot, it was chaos but it was a hell of a lot of fun!)

I did however design the logo and worked closely with a very good friend to create it digitally along with the posters. And of course I worked with a superstar group of people to help with everything else. I could not have done it without every single beautiful soul that contributed to all its magic!

It was a magical place which unfortunately no longer exists but it was definitely an experience and you can get an idea of the warm welcoming vibe from the promotional material that was created.

This is me, Hydi, a weird little artist on a magical journey that just can’t live a normal life or stop being creative. It’s what I live for, I NEED to make things, fix things and find solutions for things but I especially NEED to make things pretty, it’s just what I do.

I started creating, making a mess, taking things apart, fixing things, painting, drawing, sewing……you name it……from a very young age! And it never stopped and it never will!

In school I loved art classes and quickly became top of my class in Graphic Design but back when there weren’t computers so we were hand drawing technical designs which is what I originally fell in love with. Swiftly computers became a thing and my world got flipped upside down when I went to college and uni, way less hands on drawing and tappy tappy, clicky clicky became a thing. I still learnt a lot, and enjoyed it all the same.

Studying graphics, design for digital media, games design, multimedia design in college taught me a lot but during this process I lost the connection to physically creating and wanted to just make a mess and be creative with my hands so I studied Visual Arts at uni and then went back to my roots of sewing and found a real love for fixing things, all still while dabbling in promotion and creating graphics for friends, local businesses and myself along the way.

With no intention of living abroad I found myself settling in Cambodia after a few years of travelling and fell in love with the place where I now living a happy alternative life as a digital nomad and fixer and creator of things (check out to see my side hustle, cos even in my free time I need to be making or creating something!)

Genie Graphics has kind of organically become a thing with the help of a very dear friend I met on a little Island of the south coast of Cambodia (check out his page to see his amazing artistic talents ) We started a digital marketing business a couple of years ago together and realised quite quickly how much of an awesome team we are and pushed each other to grow and realise our individual talents, but we also realised that most of the work that was coming in was design work which is where I was gifted the opportunity to shine. This gave Jim more time to focus on his photography, so although we still work together and are always on hand to support each other, Genie Graphics was born and I ventured off on my own while Jim focuses on his own art. It has been such a beautiful and natural transition into being a proper freelance artist with a support network you could only dream of!

So yeah, this is me and my journey of how I got to where I am and I am excited to start properly sharing myself with the world on a professional level and hope to work with more like minded souls to help make dreams become realty when it comes to design solutions and promoting your business and becoming a brand!
