Not surprisingly, it's the same thing that makes a great strategist overall. In Roger Martin’s latest article, he highlights that having the biggest brain isn’t the key indicator to success. In fact, the biggest brain could be a hindrance rather than a help.

Instead, the most successful strategists have a decided shift in mindset. And most relevant to marketing, a mindset that starts with the customer. Not operations. Not data. And not their big brain. But a focus on the customer and a desire to make their lives better.
