What was meant to be the end of its journey as one of Singapore Night Festival 2026’s most eye-catching installations has instead become the beginning of a new mission.
The record-breaking 2.8-metre Blooming Hearts Fortune Merlion at Plaza Singapura will remain on display until 20 September 2026, with Singapore Chin Kang Huay Kuan rallying community volunteers to support the Singapore Red Cross Nepal Floods public appeal.
The initiative brings together art, community spirit and humanitarian action, transforming a popular festival attraction into a platform to raise awareness and encourage public support for communities affected by the recent flash floods in Nepal.
Originally commissioned by HeritageSG for Singapore Night Festival 2026 and hosted by Plaza Singapura, the installation was created by Uniplay as part of its“Trash to Treasured Art” sustainability movement. Rather than being dismantled at the end of the festival, the sculpture has been given a meaningful second life from sustainable public art to a symbol of compassion and community action.
With the support of HeritageSG SG Night Fest and Plaza Singapura Plaza Singapura , Singapore Chin Kang Huay Kuan is joining forces with Uniplay, the Singapore Red Cross Singapore Red Cross and local enterprise DCS Synthesis Pte Ltd to mobilise public support for the Nepal Floods appeal.
During the campaign, the Blooming Hearts Fortune Merlion will carry a special“LOVE NEPAL” sign, expressing Singapore’s solidarity with communities affected by the disaster.
