Hi friends! It's a beautiful day in New York City and I'm happy to connect with you all.

Just wanted to give you guys a little tip --

When people talk about earning backlinks for your website, SOCIAL MEDIA SHARES of your content don't count.

Those are generally nofollow (instead of dofollow) links.

Instead, try linking to your content in forums or guest posting on another blog.

Does your audience know your WHY? Why you started your business, what drives you to continue, why you get up every day?

Do YOU know your WHY? How can they know your Why if you don't?!

My Why is that I hate hate hate seeing entrepreneurs creating content that:

>>> Doesn't sell their product or service successfully
>>> Doesn't focus on their ideal client
>>> Doesn't engage, delight, inform or provide value to anyone
>>> Doesn't show a point or a mission

My Why is because I see entrepreneurs give up on the mission of marketing because they're:

>>> Embarrassed
>>> Unsure
>>> Tentative
>>> Scared
>>> Feeling Skeezy

My Why is because I have dreams of helping entrepreneurs make something of themselves by putting themselves out there.

My entrepreneurial journey isn't all about my clients, though. How would that keep me pushing along? Naturally, part of my why is personal. I want to:

>>> Start a nonprofit organization for autistic adults
>>> Afford to live a comfortable lifestyle when Paul and I move to New York City this summer
>>> Live up to my potential and provide consistent value

IF YOU DON'T PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE, YOU WON'T GET ANYWHERE.

And if you don't have a WHY, you're basically a business robot. And who wants to buy from a robot these days? That's easy.

People are coming to you because of YOU and YOUR influence on your business. They could go to anyone; WHY should someone choose to work with you?

Customer intentions vary from query to query, and not every customer is ready to buy right when they get to Google. So how do you attract their attention? Feed your customer information they crave!

You're the expert. You troubleshoot their technical issues. You have researched your materials. You know what people care about in your industry. Write what you know, answer customer questions, and become a resource. And while you're at it - skip the FAQ page and make each question a blog post instead. 😘

Lengthy, detailed articles over 1k words (broken up with keyword driven headings and images) can answer customer questions and make your company a go-to resource, showing that you're the best choice for the job.
