If lockdown has taught us anything, it's that self-care is an important component in a happy and healthy lifestyle.
Most of us tend totake this aspect for granted, as we're so eager to be successful in our respective fields.
If you're anything like me, you'll find that your anxiety levels only increase the more work you take on. Self-doubt starts to kick in and you have to constantly remind yourself that you ARE good enough.
Through trial and error, it took me a good while to build the tools I needed to combat these doubts, and tame the anxiety down to a productive and motivated space as opposed to a stressful one.
Here are some rituals I found to be extremely useful:
1. Airplane mode – turn your phone on to airplane mode from evening until you sit down at your desk. This one took a lot of self control, but paid off ten fold.
2. Morning walks / runs – not only does this allow your eyes to adjust to the daylight and reset your circadian rhythm, but it starts your day in a positive way.
3. Meditation – I'm not saying you have to be a monk, because meditation looks different for everybody, but find a routine that suits you e.g. mindfulness, guided meditation, affirmations, solo walks, or simply run through a list of things you appreciate.
4. Nutrition – I never really gave two thoughts about nutrition until I worked with . The difference in my mood and productivity, just by cutting out certain foods, was pretty outstanding.
5. Breaks – I can't stress how important it is to give yourself a break from work. As a business owner, it's hard to consider not being in control 24/7, but you're ultimately doing the business more harm. Taking a short break allows you to reset, and allows more room for creative ideas.
Do you get work anxiety? What are some of your rituals?
