I know many people quietly juggle caring for aging parents or loved ones alongside work, family, and everything else life throws at us.

I'm working with my client HelpHive on a survey to better understand the realities of caregiving and the impact it has on daily life.

If this sounds familiar to you, or someone you know, I'd be grateful if you'd take a few minutes to participate or share it.

Survey link is here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2LSMZFT

Fresh off being ranked #1 Sports City in Canada and #22 globally in the Burson Global Ranking of Sports Cities, Edmonton is preparing to host a series of major international sporting events that will bring athletes and fans from around the world to the city. The recognition reflects Edmonton’s strong track record of hosting global competitions and delivering memorable fan experiences, with several high-profile events on the horizon.

On April 7, Edmonton will host the PWHL Takeover Tour at Rogers Place, bringing professional women’s hockey to the city as part of the league’s growing North American showcase and giving fans the opportunity to experience the rising momentum behind women’s professional sport.

On June 1, Canada’s Men’s National Team will take the pitch at Commonwealth Stadium for a FIFA international friendly — the team’s final match before the FIFA World Cup. For soccer fans across Canada and beyond, the match offers a safe, affordable, and accessible way to experience the energy of international soccer while supporting Team Canada in a world-class stadium environment ahead of the global tournament.

Looking ahead, Edmonton will also co-host the 2027 IIHF World Junior Championships, welcoming the world’s top under-20 hockey players from December 26, 2026 to January 5, 2027. One of international hockey’s most anticipated tournaments, the event will bring fans, athletes, and media from around the world to Edmonton.

Beyond the competitions themselves, Edmonton offers visitors a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere that extends well beyond the stadium or arena. From award-winning restaurants and lively entertainment districts to river valley trails and year-round festivals, fans can pair world-class sport with memorable experiences throughout the city, creating the kind of electric environment that has become synonymous with major events in Edmonton.

Together, these events reinforce Edmonton’s reputation as a global sports city known for its world-class venues, passionate fan base, and ability to host major international competitions. As Edmonton continues to welcome premier events across multiple sports, it is strengthening its position as Canada’s leading destination for unforgettable live sport.

New client alert — not my usual travel and tourism work, but something so many people in my circle are navigating right now. 🤍
ca is a Vancouver-based platform connecting families with trusted Helpers who provide non-medical, in-home support for loved ones.

I’m watching so many friends juggle careers, kids, and caring for aging parents, quietly carrying an enormous load.

Most care doesn’t happen in hospitals. It happens at home. And it’s largely managed by family (predominantly women, at that).

HelpHive is making that a little more manageable — and I’m proud to support what they’re building. Give them a follow, check out their site, and recommend them to anyone you know who could use a helping hand. ✨

20 years in, and the part I still love the most? It isn’t the press hits or the polished campaigns (although those are pretty awesome), it’s the relationships.
With clients. With media. With partners. With people.
The trust, collaboration, and connection I’ve built over the past two decades is what fuels me. The results matter, but what's behind them matters more. Grateful for every connection and collaboration that’s led to words like these.

Swipe to see what it’s like to work with me - in their words, not mine.

This week has been heavy for many. The Lapu Lapu festival in Vancouver was marred by tragedy, while Canadians faced the tensions of a federal election. As PR professionals, it's important to balance our roles in guiding public narratives while also allowing space for our own grief and uncertainty within our communities.

So, how do we move forward in our work while honouring what’s happening around us? Here are a few thoughts I’ve been reflecting on this week:

1. Pause before responding in a crisis. Sometimes silence is respectful; other times, a simple message of solidarity is best.

2. Help your impacted community by supporting fundraisers and amplifying local voices. Align your actions with your intentions to build trust.

3. Check in with colleagues and friends affected—reach out personally, offer support, and listen.

4. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take a break to protect your mental health.

5. Not every moment is right for a marketing push. Adjust your plans with sensitivity to current events.

I’ve expanded more on these thoughts in my Substack this week.

In the meantime, I’m sending so much peace and strength to everyone impacted by this horrific and heart-breaking event. 🤍 🇵🇭
