Let's Talk About The Best Use of Your Time - Coffee Talk ☕

One question I find myself asking more often is:
What's the best use of my time today?

Not what can I do.
What should I be doing?

As business owners, it's easy to believe we have to do everything ourselves.

But there comes a point when the best use of our time isn't updating the website, creating social media graphics, or figuring out email marketing.

It's leading the business.
Sometimes the biggest step forward isn't learning another skill.

It's recognizing that your time is more valuable when you're focused on the work only you can do.

Delegating isn't giving something up.
It's creating the space to grow.

Your time is one of your most valuable resources. Spend it where you make the biggest impact.

So I'll leave you with this question...
What's one task you're still holding onto that someone else could help you with?

Coffee Talk ☕ Is Your Website Reflecting Your Business Today?
One of the most rewarding parts of my work is helping business owners fall back in love with their websites.

Not every project requires a complete redesign.

Sometimes it's updating outdated content, improving the layout, adding new photos, refreshing the messaging, or fixing the little things that have been sitting on a to-do list for months.

I know budgets matter, and I also know that investing in small improvements over time can make a big difference.

Your website is often the first impression someone has of your business.
Keeping it current tells visitors you're active, engaged, and invested in what you do.

Whether you need a brand-new website or simply want to refresh the one you already have, I'm always happy to help.

Coffee Talk ☕ It Starts with a Conversation

Sometimes the best marketing doesn't begin with a campaign. It begins with a conversation.

One of the things I enjoy most is sitting down with business owners and hearing the story behind what they've built.

The best conversations aren't really about marketing.
They're about people, purpose, and the journey that got them where they are today.

I've learned that some of the best ideas don't come from having all the answers.
They come from asking thoughtful questions and truly listening.

More often than not, people already have the answers. They just need the space to think out loud and someone to help connect the dots.

Watching those pieces come together is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do. Never underestimate the power of a good conversation. You never know where it might lead!

What if businesses stopped treating storytelling as just another marketing tactic, and instead started creating stories people genuinely wanted to follow?

I think the brands we'll remember in the future won't necessarily be the most polished. They'll be the ones that create connection, familiarity, and a world people enjoy stepping into.

I explored this idea in my latest Substack article, and I'd love to know what you think.

Read it here:

Have you ever followed a brand because you loved the feeling it created, not just what it sold? I know I have!

Coffee Talk ☕ Protect Your Best Energy

I've been paying more attention to my energy lately, not just how much I have, but when I do my best work.

For me, it's hands down the morning. That's when I tackle strategy, writing, coaching sessions, and creative work. Starting my day with a workout seems to open everything else up.

I've also learned to stop expecting myself to be equally creative all day. When my energy naturally dips, I shift to emails, admin work, scheduling, or other tasks that don't require as much creative thinking.

As business owners, we often spend our best energy reacting instead of creating. I've found the opposite works much better. Protect your best hours for the work that moves your business forward.

When do you do your best work?

Coffee Talk ☕ Keep the "You" in Your Business

AI is an incredible tool, and I use it myself, especially for brainstorming and getting ideas flowing.

But if you're creating graphics for your business, please don't let AI become your entire brand.

I'd honestly rather see you use well-designed Canva templates or, better yet, invest in a small set of custom branded templates you can use again and again. I'm sure a designer you know would be happy to help with that!

Some designers aren't fans of Canva, but honestly, it's just another tool. If you're going to DIY your marketing, I'd much rather see you build a consistent brand with Canva than rely solely on AI-generated graphics that all start looking the same.

Your audience notices consistency. They remember businesses that have a recognizable look and personality. Taking the time to build a brand that feels like you is what helps you stand out.

AI can save time, but your personality and brand are what make you memorable. When someone is finally ready to buy, they're much more likely to remember the business that felt authentic than one that looked like everyone else. Don't let your brand fade into the background.

Coffee Talk ☕ Keeping the Important Things Moving

My brain feels a little like a browser with too many tabs open lately. Between packing for a move, managing client projects, working through a few wonderfully unorganized projects, and starting the early phases of marathon training, life feels full.

This weekend I ran the RAD 10K. I decided to take the pressure off, enjoy the race, and simply have fun. Ironically, that's when I set a personal record.

It reminded me that sometimes the goal isn't to do everything. It's to keep moving the important things forward, one step at a time. Some seasons are about growth, and some are about endurance.

I know I'll get through this season, and if you're feeling the same way, you will too. One step at a time.

Coffee Talk ☕ Letting Go & Feeling Great About It!
This weekend I had the chance to visit ReMix It in West Asheville, a creative reuse store founded by my friend Amanda Wilde, whom I first met through AIGA Asheville. I'm so proud of what she's created, and it felt incredibly good to donate years of accumulated art supplies and creative treasures, knowing they'll find new homes in the hands of other makers.

It's funny how letting go feels a little easier when you know something still has purpose.

I'll admit, parting with art supplies isn't easy. Each box holds ideas, memories, and creative possibilities. But knowing they'll be discovered by another artist, maker, or curious creative and become part of something new makes it feel a lot less like saying goodbye.

As for us, we officially sold our house and will be starting a new chapter in early August. We're not going far, and I'll continue doing what I love, helping founder-led businesses grow through clear messaging, thoughtful marketing, and a little Coffee Talk along the way.

Here's to new beginnings, both ours and the ones sparked by a box of well-loved art supplies.

Coffee Talk - Trust the Process ☕

Lately I’ve been reminded that trusting the process is often harder than starting it.

Once you’ve made the decision and done the work, there’s usually a period of waiting, wondering, and hoping you’re headed in the right direction.

What feels encouraging is that I’m starting to see little signs that things are unfolding exactly as they should. Not the finish line, but enough evidence to know progress is happening.

If you’re in a season of waiting, hang in there. Sometimes things are working behind the scenes long before the full picture comes into view.

Coffee Talk: What lights you up? ☕

From a group call today, I was reminded of something I had never really thought about before.

What lights you up doesn't just show up in one area of your life.
The things that energize you, inspire you, and make you feel most alive often find their way into your work, relationships, hobbies, and the choices you make.

The more I thought about it, the more it made sense.
Maybe that's why certain paths keep calling us back.

What lights you up?

~Nanette :)
