Western Elevation for the .bakery a competition designed by AT for a new kiosk at Albany bus station!
The Western elevation works to integrate the kiosk with the currently existing seating of the small courtyard it backs onto in the Albany bus station. This is done using a creative rolling pin bench, set amongst a living plant wall. Not only does this optimise the space around the kiosk, it also provides a backdrop and setting for photos, giving us a great opportunity for passive social media advertising.

Southern Elevation for the .bakery a competition designed by AT for a new kiosk at Albany bus station!
The ordering window is positioned on the Southern elevation. This window is strategically placed around the corner from the direct flow of foot traffic. While we hope most of our customers will order on our app, the positioning of this window means that those that haven't and need to queue to order will be out of the hustle and bustle of the thoroughfare. This is also where the menu will be positioned as well as the corner window display cabinet (also visible from the Eastern elevation)

This elevation will be the collection point, designed for people who have pre ordered coffee or food off the app (launching soon) to grab on their way through from the car park to their bus (in the mainline of foot traffic) as a seamless transaction

- The Amazon is the world’s largest tropical rainforest. Covering over 5.5 million square kilometres, it’s so big that the UK and Ireland would fit into it 17 times!
- The Amazon has an incredibly rich ecosystem – there are around 40,000 plant species, 1,300 bird species, 3,000 types of fish, 430 mammals and a whopping 2.5 million different insects. Wow!
- Unfortunately in recent years a depressing 1.5 acres of the Amazon vanishes every single second and with it an average of 137 species become extinct each day. Deforestation in the Amazon alone accounts for 30% of global carbon emission, and if things continue the way they are, there won’t be anything left in 40 years. Most of the destruction is to make room for pastures to raise cattle.

We need bees to survive so we can survive! Here’s some fun facts about these amazing insects 🐝:

Bees have been around for more than 30 million years

It would take 1,100 bees to make 1kg of honey and they would have to visit 4 million flowers

They fly at a speed of around 25km per hour and beat their wings 200 times per second

The honey bee is the only insect that produces food eaten by man

All worker bees are female.
