When I started bjj 13 years ago, most of my training was in my dad's basement, forcing my 9 year old brother to drill dvd's with me. I became a student of bjj then.

The first truly like minded person I met was , he used to drive an hour every day to drill knee cuts with me at my mom's () house. We didn't even have real mats, just those thin black once meant for under gym equipment. He was the one who first brought me to Sweden and introduced me to and the gang.

Over the years I've continued my studies in various gyms in Sweden, Belgium and Bulgaria. Every gym has taught me something. To persevere, to think deeper, to believe in myself.

Recently I started my own gym in Ghent, together with my main training partner . Where I started to enjoy the gift of teaching and sharing what I've picked up over the years.

Seeing my students and friends from Belgium do well this week at the camp, against some of the most talented fighters from Europe, has been the proudest moment of my life so far. , Dario, Arnaud and .FLEMISH.MEERKAT were crushing it.

In the back of my mind I always knew I was more excited about becoming a coach then a competitor.

Yesterday I got the black belt together with Sam Van Bellingen. We got the belt from ,max lindblad, and , surounded some of my other heroes like , , and .

All I can say is that remain a student untill the day I die, on the everastinf journey to mastery.

Don't ignore this because it's hard.

You know someone you need to forgive.

Every single day was hell. Dusk till dawn.

But I was living the dream.

I wouldn't trade this experience for anything in the world.

For most of you, I'm Stapho Thienpont, a b2b marketer focused on LinkedIn.

But to the guys in this picture.

I was Stapho, the purple belt who quit school to live in Jiu-Jitsu gym.

The flexible guy who needed to go a bit harder in competition.

The guy who was always tired.

But showed up for training every day.

In my mind, I'm still that guy, to be honest.

Every day I see these guys on Instagram.

Living the dream I used to have.

Training, Competing, Travelling.

Day in, day out.

I have no regrets. I've made my choice.

I've found a new mission.

Still, I get nostalgic.

When I think of 2015.

I think of sleeping on the mats.

Hardly getting 5 hours of sleep.

Training for 4 to 6 hours.

Sparring with my brothers.

Feeling like I got hit by a truck.

Tears after losing that that one match.

Seeing the soft side of the toughest competitors.

I learned the true meaning of grit.

When I felt like I was at my end, during the first 5 minutes of the week.

But still plowed through the week.

While getting my ass kicked the whole time through.

My coaches. My teammates. My opponents.

Made me who I am today.

I can never thank them enough.

There's more to color than liking one shade over an other.

When you've been with your partner for a long time you see all their shades.

Every shade is beautiful in its own right.

You can't always see that.

Sometimes it's not obvious.
I known I've shown a lot of ugly.

Pettiness.
Complaints.
Ungratefulness.

has never held this against me.

That's one of her brightest colors.

It is not her only hue.

And words fail me here.

That's why I love photography.

I can capture the beauty I see, share it with you.

In the hope that you can catch a glimpse.

Of the scenery in front of me. --- I invite you to look around yourself, look for beauty.

Enough of this B&W s**t, I'm getting back to into color. Let's start with the man who brought the most color to my life in 2018.

The man, the adventurer, .

The one person who was ready to go all-in with me.

It takes cojones to move countries and build a marketing agency.

It hasn't been easy.

We've struggled with the business, our friendship and with ourselves this year.

Sonny gets so blue that he's blinded to all the colors.

Ironically he's the most colorful person I know.

When he's passionate about a new system his light burns red-hot.

And when he comforts he feels like a soft, orange fireplace.

Without him, I might still be living in my mom's basement.

Thanks for the colors, Sonny.

They're beautiful.

Yesterday I spend all day testing out different applications to make designs for instagram and Facebook. These are my two favorites so far.

I'm using android but I'm pretty sure they're available on iPhone as well.

1) Textgram

Pretty good for making motivational pictures or quotes, I'm pretty sure there are better options tho. If I find something I like better, I'll let you guys know.

2) iwatermark

Only tool I found to batch watermark your pictures. This means you can write your name / stamp your logo on as many pictures as you like automatically.

Changed my instagram name to: BTW.
