TEAM GUC GUC civil engineering club Why Civil ? Civil engineering makes a difference to the world and to the quality of people's lives. It will be in all aspects of life.

Civil engineering is one of the oldest branches of engineering. It has been there for mankind since Adam and Eve. From the usage of stones to sand to nowadays where we use cement and wood. Civil engineering has been standing tall across the times................................................................................................
Motivation :
Our initial motivation started with the

guidance of Dr. Sameh Kantoush. He was the first professor to support and encourage us to form a club that unites and helps the civil engineering students. As we all know the number of students applying to study civil engineering is increasing every year. If we start the club as the university is growing we will manage to create a successful society. Our dream is that the support of students to students will not be only in the academic aspect. We will not limit the participation in the club to the current students in the GUC. We want by God'swilling to have all the students that will graduate to participate as members of an active society. These are some of the reasons that motivated us to form this club but the main reason that motivated us was that we wanted to start a small society of civil engineers, to solidify the relationship between the students and finally to create a structure that will last long after we are gone................................................................................................
What we do:
-We would like to offer a place for new civil students to feel at home.
-Make the life of civil engineering students easier.
-Improve and increase the cultural awareness of the civil engineer
-In the beginning we are going to solidify our position in the university
-In our future plan we are planning to expand our activities to both international and national contests
-We are going to organize exhibitions related to civil engineering projects with prizes.
-Publishing small research papers about new interesting material related to civil engineering.
-Offer engineering related courses with cheaper prices to GUCians................................................................................................
Our committees are :
1-Projects committee and it includes four committees :
a) Education Committee:
-Works mainly with the staff to try and make the education process easier for the students
b) Science Communication:
-Tries to find new and innovative ways to teach and enhance the information given
c) Science Development:
-Finding about all the new inventions and discoveries related to science generally and civil engineering specifically
-Putting the information in a format that can be understood by anyone Making researches about the current problems of society Finding solutions for the current problems
d) Events:
-Increasing the cultural level of the students by organizing seminars and trips and inviting students to book signings, movie shows and galleries......................................................................................
2-Organizing committee (OC) and it includes four committees:
a) Media:
-Responsible for all the media coverage for the club
-Designing posters for the events
-Supervise the club’s page
b) Logistics:
-Buying all the related materials for booths, events, etc…
c) Head Hunters:
-Searching for new heads
-Motivating Members
-Interviewing potential members
-Evaluating the current members and heads
d) Public Relations:
-Responsible for the relations between the club and the administration.
-Responsible for the relation between the club and outside the campus......................................................................................
3- Fundraising:
-Responsible for the necessary financial funds in order to carry out the Association’s activities .

Eng. GHERASIN is the Track and Alignment Design Manager at SYSTRA-France. SYSTRA is ranked as the number two international design firm in mass transit and rail, according to the Engineering News Record (ENR) ranking. SYSTRA is specialized in planning, engineering, design, program management, and construction management for transportation systems and their associated facilities with over 45 years of international and 25 years of North American experience.
Eng. Gherasin has more than 18 years of experience in construction, design and maintenance of track infrastructures for railways, tramways and metros to UIC, European, British standards. Eng Gherasin has worked at many multinational companies as; SYSTRA; ATKINS; ALSTOM; and the Romanian National Railway Company (CFR). Eng. Gherasin was lately the track design manager of several projects as; Makkah Metro Line B and C in Saudi Arabia; the Pilot Light Metro Line 3 in Hanoi-Viet Nam; and Cairo Metro Line 3, Phase 1 in Egypt. In addition, Eng. Gherasin had held many positions in several railways projects in various countries around the world that included; France; Iran; Poland; Romania; Denmark; the United Kingdom; and Ireland.
Eng. Gherasin holds a Master degree in infrastructure for transportation system from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara in Romania and a Bachelor degree of Sciences in Railways, Roads and Bridges also from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara in Romania. In addition, Eng. Gherasin holds a Bachelor degree of Sciences Economy from the Western University of Timisoara in Romania.
