Sometimes the biggest opportunities begin with an idea that does not exist yet.
During my conversation with Alex Canavan, we talked about how she pitched an entire International Women’s Day event before she had the venue, the audience, or any idea how she would actually pull it off.
She was 23.
She was hungry.
And she had not been burned enough to convince herself it could not work.
I loved how Alex described naivety as a superpower.
Because sometimes experience teaches us what can go wrong before we ever give ourselves the chance to discover what could go right.
But Alex did more than dream up an event.
She understood how to sell the vision.
She knew the community needed it because she needed it herself. Then she showed her employer how sponsoring it could help them recruit ambitious women who were searching for their next opportunity.
That is the power of a great pitch.
You do not just explain what you want to build.
You show people why it matters to them.
Build the idea.
Sell the vision.
Then figure out how to make it real.
