So should you build it BEFORE they come? 🤔🤔

Way back when I started selling sales pages (but hadn’t sold one yet), a savvy coach told me to WRITE a sales page for my sales page service.

Of course that made total sense since I run a conversion copywriting business … and what better way to show off what I could do like fire, than to do it? 🔥🔥

Yet, many entrepreneurs I talk to … whether they’re selling a coaching program, a course or other service … tell me to my face that THEY don’t need a sales page. 🙃

Or that a short little landing page will reel in those enrollments … 🤨

“Well, I sell via word of mouth or referrals …”

“I haven’t sold any yet, so I don’t have the time or money to create a sales page…”

“Who’s gonna read a sales page anyway?”

Let’s just blow that up right now …

First of all, I LOVE reading sales pages (and that’s just not the conversion copywriting nerd in me). 🤓

Great sales pages take you on a journey. ✈

You’re HERE, but you WANT to be THERE.

The sales page is that bridge between the person who’s a little skeptical that they can:

💯Have those $10K months in their business
💯Lose those last 20 pounds for good
💯Be the type of parent they want to be
💯Learn how to start their own coaching business

The sales page shows them that their desire is totally possible, with your solution and help.

Great sales pages are based on:

💪Knowing EXACTLY what your prospect is going through
💪Knowing the type of outcome they most desire
💪Knowing HOW your solution gets them there
💪Showing them how NOT investing in your solution will impact their life
💪Showing them how saying YES to your solution will change their life

Sales pages are born out of your desire to act at the highest level of service for your clients.

Even if you haven’t sold ONE yet, prioritize your sales page …

… the closest thing to you sitting down 1:1 with your prospect over a cup of joe and sharing how you can help transform their life. 👀

Don’t stay hidden.

It’s time to shine. ✨✨✨✨✨✨

Just wanted to share my quick story about God being involved in my business startup.
Back in April 2017 … when I was still commuting an hour each way … and going on business trips and being away from my kids for days … I thought: “What if I could work at home and be there ALL THE TIME for my kids?”
Four months later, my publishing executive position was eliminated and I was out of a job.
Humiliated and a little angry, I applied for hundreds of jobs and DIDN’T. GET. ONE. OFFER.
Then, I started applying to remote 9-to-5s.
Again, I DIDN’T. GET. ONE. OFFER.
Then, I felt God inspiring me to start my own business.
I figured that when I shared the news with my husband, family and friends, SOMEONE would shoot me down and I’d go back to applying for jobs.
But guess what?
Not ONE person thought it was a bad idea.
In fact, every single person said, “Go for it!”
So I did and launched my business in January 2018.
Throughout the process, thanks to prayer, I had been led in the right directions to learn and grow my business.
The most important thing? My business has given me the freedom to be here every single day for my kids.
I thank God that He gave me this opportunity and continues to lead me forward.

I just opened a Website Copy Sprint for coaches, consultants and other service-based business owners with existing websites that aren’t converting.

It’s a FAST, done-for-you rewrite of your

👉 Home
👉 About
👉 Services pages...

along with bonus Headline + CTA Variations and Contact Page Microcopy.

All delivered in 7–10 days, ready to copy and paste into your site.

If your site sounds "generic," doesn’t reflect how good you actually are or doesn't really talk to your clients in a way that prompts them to confidently take the next step, this was built for you.

And yes, you’ll love how quickly you get website copy you actually want to publish.

👉 Comment “copy” and I’ll DM you the details.

As the kids say, I cringe a little when I read my early freelance website copy.

When I first started my writing business circa 2017, hype marketing speak … 😆that razzle-dazzle…
😆shake-that-sizzle-glitter-all-over-the-crowds…
😆I’m-writing-your-copy-in-Fiji-while-driving-a-Ferrari

vibe was riding high.

While I wasn’t new to professional writing, I was NEW to doing it with my virtual shingle out.

So, I swaggered ALL over my website…
👉 “I’m walking-over-hot-coals FEARLESS when it comes to writing your copy"
👉“Heeyyyyyyaaa, world-changing rockstars”
👉“I’m Type A so you can be Type Zsss about your copy, since you can take a power nap while I’m working on it"
👉“Your words will be like the breakdancer’s moves NO ONE ELSE CAN IMITATE"

Except, yeah, MY WORDS were like the breakdancer tripping over their own feet.

But in my defense, hype marketing (plus getting all up in people’s DMs, where I did close $10,000 copy deals) was where it was at for that moment in time.

I decided to rework and simplify my site, no hype copy.

(I did keep the Trans Am and glitter eye photos as a nod to my rocker vibe and love of muscle cars… )

I reviewed all of the customer testimonials I’ve gotten in my eight years in business to see why people liked working with me.

They want an experienced writer who:
⚡Diagnoses gaps
⚡Runs with minimal instructions (that doesn’t include the discovery session I run to learn about their business)
⚡Researches
⚡Interviews sources or customers and use their quotes and stories to enhance the copy or content
⚡Produces near-perfect, on-point first drafts
⚡Works F-A-S-T
⚡Quickly synthesizes feedback and adjusts the copy or content
⚡Doesn’t ghost (trust me, I hired enough freelancers who said they were the bees’ knees and then never did the work I hired them to do)

What changed wasn’t my skill — it was my clarity about what actually mattered to prospects:

When I revised my copy, I focused on this main deliverable: done-for-you copy and content support for companies, agencies and founders who want it done right, on brand, on time — and with some swagger to make you stand out.

Then, I drilled down into these core points with supporting testimonials:

👉 Writing that sounds like you, without coaching or translation
You don’t have to explain your business twice or rewrite copy internally. The writing arrives ready to use and already sounds right.
“Writing that makes me smile and requires little to no changes.”

👉 Less back-and-forth, minimal revisions
Direction is clear from the start, so projects don’t get stuck in feedback loops or endless edits.
“I rarely have feedback because she usually nails exactly what I’m looking for the first time around.”

👉 Faster momentum when writing is the bottleneck
When copy is the hold-up, everything slows down. My role is to remove that friction so projects can move forward.
“The website copy was critical in getting our site launched on time.”

This is the kind of work I do with clients.

/// 3 LEAKING HOLES YOU NEED TO PATCH AS YOU CALL IN PROSPECTS ///

I talk to a lot of business owners about their biggest, most consistent struggle.

Here it is: Consistently calling in qualified prospects (who end up buying).

Unfortunately, there’s no silver bullet or one-size-fixes-all approach...

BUT, I can share 3 holes many entrepreneurs shrug off, saying, “No, this isn’t important…” but these holes cause them to lose prospects at key points in the sales process.

1. A WELCOME EMAIL SEQUENCE

TWO business owners told me that they don't convert people who contact them into booking strategy sessions.

“OK, when you chat with them, do you get their email and drop them into your automated welcome sequence?”

Zero for two on both counts.

You NEED an automated welcome sequence to introduce yourself and your solutions to people actively seeking the transformation you offer.

This email sequence should include freebies (such as ebooks or a masterclass) and CTAs to book a strategy call with you or purchase your intro offer.

(When you gather emails, you’re building a list of warm or even hot prospects who’ve found you.)

2. A WEBSITE THAT IMMERSES YOUR PROSPECT INTO WHAT IT’S LIKE TO WORK WITH YOU

Many times, I visit a website after anowner has told me, “The site works good enough. People just go there to find out if I’m a legit company.”

But the site falls flat …

-The home page doesn’t include an enticing headline and sub copy that tells me exactly what the company offers (or a CTA). At that point I’ve spent maybe 15 seconds on the site and I’m ready to bounce off.

-The About page either doesn’t exist or doesn’t reflect the business owner’s why or passion.

-The Services and Work With Us pages are often where I see the biggest gap: It’s not clear what it’s like to work with this company. It’s not clear what the solutions and benefits are. It’s not clear what the results are. If your site is missing this, I’m not super interested in getting on a call to learn more.

3. THE FORTUNE’S IN THE FOLLOW-UP

Usually it takes between four to eight touches for a prospect to “interact” with you … like each email in your welcome sequence … or reading your About page … then a blog post …

So first, if you’re not following up with people who’ve contacted you on the phone, via email, via a Facebook comment or in the DMs, add that to your daily list.

Second, figure out ways to automate that follow-up, whether creating additional email sequences or having general “themeplates” for DM messages or other ways you follow up with people who are at different stages in your sales pipeline.

Here’s the thing, there are a MILLION different ways to do all these things (totally unique to you and your business), but the key is knowing WHAT to do first and what to do after that.

This is sequential, and to make it happen requires committing to it and putting the right foot in front of the other.

While scrolling LinkedIn and Facebook, I see a lot of hot takes or controversial statements that get a lot of attention and comments.

I don't really do hot takes. I do craft.

I’m a Gen X writer who started her journalism career in a newsroom at age 18.

A day in the life was hustling out to a scene (one ongoing story I covered was this local battle between pig farmers and a corporation trying to buy their land forcefully) like a public hearing, writing down the deets, interviewing people (and writing it in a notepad)...

Driving (fast-ish) back to the newsroom and writing up the story fast on deadline and sending it to the editor.

Since then a lot of my work has been in journalism (hard news and service journalism), long case studies, and advertorials and other long-form content that involved research and interviews… and writing a long-form piece that holds attention, tells a cohesive, compelling story, and achieves business goals.

This is what every successful freelance writer I know can do, regardless of niche or platform:

👉 Research wide and deep

👉 Interview sources with the right questions and follow-ups – and get real-world examples

👉 Catalog details in your head so you’re thinking of the lead and story arc before you ever sit down to write

👉 Look at a pile of notes and quotes and rearrange them into your structure

👉 Write a can’t-not-read headline, deck and lead

👉 Write fast and immersively to get that first draft out

👉 Go back and read as an editor who’ll have no mercy with your little darlings that should be cut or moved

👉 Go back and read as a reader to ensure they can follow your story without getting tripped up and taken out of the flow

You need the skills to write well, quickly and on repeat.

There’s no shortcut. There’s just craft, repetition and judgment.

That’s the work. That’s the take.

What are you REALLY selling?

One of the niches I create content and copy in is branded apparel … you know like when you see a t-shirt or hoodie with a company logo or message on it?

So the person screen printing the apparel is selling a logoed t-shirt, right?

👉👉 Just like I’m selling “copywriting.”

👉👉 Just like I’m selling “words.”

Back in the day when I went to trade shows in this market, one printing veteran, the amazing Marshall Atkinson, said, “You’re not really selling logoed shirts. You’re selling a marketing solution.”

🌟🌟🌟🌟 “You’re selling a walking billboard that will get seen thousands of times over the time it’s worn.”

🌟🌟🌟🌟 “You’re selling a walking billboard that you send to your client’s customers as a thank you.”

Suddenly, that logoed t-shirt is way more valuable.

Suddenly, that printer is a lot more than “the tattooed dude (or dudette) who prints my logo on stuff.”

When I started my own business, I went through the same process.

👉👉👉“Well, yeah, I’m selling ‘words’.”

👉👉👉 “I’m selling custom-written website copy or sales pages.”

🌟🌟🌟🌟 “But I’m REALLY selling WORDS THAT SELL for my clients.”

🌟🌟🌟🌟 “Words they DON’T have to spend time STRESSING over OR writing themselves.”

One long-term client told me, “When I ask you to help me out with something, it’s like all the stress is gone. All I have to do is look in my inbox the day you say you’re sending the copy and … there it is … and it’s always phenomenal.” 💵💵😊😊

So I’m really selling “COPY THAT SELLS,” but I’m ALSO saving my clients time and saving them from needless stress and worry.

So what are you actually selling—and do your clients know it immediately?💵 💵💵

This is what I always ask any new client.

One thing I bring to marketing work that doesn’t always get named is journalistic fluency.

Before I was a marketing writer, I was trained to interview (starting in the newsroom of a local paper): to ask the kinds of questions that help people explain complex ideas clearly, confidently, and honestly. That skill becomes especially powerful in long-form work like case studies, advertorials, and trade features.

Recently, I worked with a powerhouse company whose technology sits squarely in a highly technical, nuance-heavy industry. Their challenge wasn’t a lack of innovation...it was how to explain that innovation in a way that made people understand how it worked and how it could transform their business.

The work involved:

⚡ Conducting In-depth customer interviews
⚡ Creating Long-form case studies
⚡ Building out supporting trade publication features and LinkedIn content

Because I understand this client's industry and know how to guide interviews, their customers opened up quickly. Conversations never feel scripted or stiff (and sometimes my parrot would interrupt and get a laugh). They felt human, and that showed up in the final work.

The results?

💡 Thousands of industry professionals reached through published features and social content

💡 A significant increase in visibility for key technologies

💡 LinkedIn audience growth of more than 50% for a flagship product

💡 And most importantly: increased demo requests and inbound inquiries directly tied to the content

That’s the difference between “content that explains” and content that moves people.

Strong long-form marketing isn’t just about writing well. It’s about:

👉 Asking the right questions
👉 Building a real narrative arc
👉 Translating technical depth into clarity
👉 And never losing sight of the business goal behind the story

When those things come together, the content gets read and gets results.

If you're looking for a writer who can create long-form case studies, articles, white papers and more, DM me!
