(Admin) : Speaking from experience, Extra curricular activities have not only developed my skills and enhanced my abilities but also it has become almost my routine, a way of expressing myself through means of different activities. It developed my socialization skills, helped in making connections, collaborative skills, public speaking skills, Personality development, and it even paved the way for people to know my presence even outside the school grounds. Some people recognize me from my journey as a member of the boyscout, some know me for my artistic skills, some are familiar with my writing, others know me for the numerous miscellaneous contests that I've been apart of, it actually warms my heart everytime I get recognized by others. Besides forming a reputation, it has also made me more responsible and more self aware of the things that goes around me. It shaped me mentally and emotionally as a person, helped me overcome hurdles and limitations, things I never knew were possible were all made possible! Also Extra curricular activities are also more engaging because it favors the student's strengths, it lessens their stresses because they are doing something that doesn't pressure them and will most likely make them happy. So why are we student's expected to treat extra curricular activities as a threat to our future? We are often ridiculed by other people that Extra curricular activities holds no credibility when I comes to our future, and that it will only hinder it, but frankly I think the opposite will happen. If we let these students express their talents, support their interests, give way for their skills and abilities, would that motivated them into a future they actually want, and not a future that you expect them to have?
Here at SECAM - BNHS, we value your development, and like a mighty grape vine, it is impossible to grow without proper support so join us and we shall promote our advocacy to seek support and let our students grow and develop in ways they actually want.
Photos are from the numerous extra curricular activities that I've participated in.
