I was talking to a really talented photographer the other day who couldn’t figure out why inquiries weren’t coming in.
I pulled up her site and immediately understood why.
Her website felt like a museum gallery, full of vintage elements and texture. You could feel her world immediately.
But her actual work was barely there.
As someone landing on that page, i felt like… okay, this is pretty, and then i moved on. Because I couldn’t see myself in her photos, or picture what it would feel like to book her.
And if i felt that way, chances are… a lot of her potential clients did too. And that’s the problem.
A site built around the owner’s aesthetic and a site built around the client’s experience are two completely different sites.
A website that actually converts isn’t just about looking good. It’s about understanding how your people move through your site, what they need to see to trust and feel connected to you, and how to guide them toward that moment of “okay… i need to reach out.”
If you’ve been thinking “i need to redo my site or why isn’t anyone reaching out”,
