We built stories this year for this incredible, unique expedition that provides learning opportunities for Innu Nation youth in Labrador, while collecting scientific data to support land and ocean conservation. Follow them now - new videos start next week!

Coming soon!

The Innu Nation Uinipekᵘ Expedition takes Innu youth onto the ocean every summer to learn from Elders, Guardians and community members, practice hands-on skills in science, and connect with the land and waters of Nitassinan.

Join us as we share the story of this unique research model and hear directly from those who take the journey with us. Follow now on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

How powerful are stories? For residential school survivor Yáan dekín Yéil Wayne Carlick, stories connect you to everything. "Once you're told those stories, you become part of it, and it touches your soul, I guess, because it's a connection to the past, and it's connection to now."

One more peek at our project earlier this summer with Innu Nation!

The first sneak peek from our latest project!

Earlier this summer, BxB embedded with the Innu Nation’s Uinipeku Expedition. We followed two groups of young people from Innu communities as they interned with researchers and scientists, learned from Guardians and Elders, and helped tell the story of this unique journey to explore land and sea. More to come!

Today is Wishbone Day! It’s about raising awareness for Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) - better known as Brittle Bone Disease. OI is a genetic connective tissue disorder characterized by bones that break easily. Across the 8 types of OI, many other associated characteristics can include short stature, a curved spine, loose joints, chronic pain, hearing loss, vision problems, respiratory problems, cardiac issues, and more. Every person with OI has their own experience.

In 2023, we had the pleasure of working with Mia Ives-Rublee, pictured here, who has OI herself. We filmed a video with her all about service animals, which you can check out at the link in our bio.

Have you ever been made fun of by a polar bear before? You have now! 🐻‍❄️

Today is International Polar Bear Day! We met this one while filming for the .riverwatershedinitiative in Northern Manitoba. This bear had just about enough of us though, as you can probably tell.

Watch We Are Made From The Land at the link in our bio and stories.

In summer of 2023, Block by Block embedded with the Unama’ki Institute of Natural Resources, producing a story on How Guardians Preserve Culture. Part of being a Guardian means keeping tradition alive on the land and passing it on to future generations.

What does this look like? Preserving natural resources, learning traditions, history, language, and teachings. It also means ensuring that the younger generation — some of whom may become future guardians — can one day do the same.

We met this squirrel during filming and it serves as a reminder to us that everything Guardians do to protect the land benefits everything that lives on it. 🐿️

You can watch the full video at the link in our bio.
