⚫🟡 Ramor United GFC Launch Club Donation Scheme – Building for the Next 50 Years ⚫🟡

As Ramor Utd GFC celebrates its 50th anniversary, the club is not just looking back on five decades of football and community spirit – it's looking firmly towards the future.

This Saturday at 7pm, Ramor United will officially launch its new Club Donation Scheme, helping to fund the completion of a major redevelopment project at Dolan Park. The ambitious development will provide modern facilities for current and future generations of players, members and supporters.

With the project expected to cost around €1.3 million, significant progress has already been made, including €200,000 in grant funding. The new donation scheme will give individuals an opportunity to play their part in helping the club reach the finish line.

The scheme is designed to be a tax-efficient way for supporters to contribute towards the development of facilities that will serve the community for many years to come.

Whether you've worn the jersey, cheered from the sidelines, volunteered behind the scenes, or simply want to support one of Virginia's most important community organisations, this is an opportunity to invest in the future of Ramor United.

📍 Launch Event: New Club Rooms, Dolan Park
📅 Saturday 20th June
🕖 7:00pm

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing the project this far, and best of luck with the launch of the donation scheme and the next chapter in Ramor United's story. ⚫🟡

📖❤️ A timely reminder that human connection still matters.

The Anglo-Celt has a lovely feature on Cavan Institute teacher, podcaster and author Deirdre Donnelly, whose new book Where Life Meets You explores mental health, wellbeing, resilience and the importance of community.

One quote from the article particularly stood out:

"You're never going to replace what human connection brings. It's irreplaceable."

Drawing on her experiences as a teacher, mum and community volunteer, Deirdre reflects on the value of community, conversation and the small everyday connections that help us through life's challenges.

As technology continues to change the way we live, work and communicate, it's a reminder that a simple chat, a helping hand and a sense of belonging still have an important place in our lives.

Congratulations to Deirdre on the success of her book, which has already become a bestseller in its category.

🤖🇮🇪 Ireland takes another step towards regulating Artificial Intelligence.

The Government has approved the publication of the Regulation of Artificial Intelligence Bill 2026, which will support the implementation of the EU AI Act and establish Ireland's framework for overseeing AI technologies.

Minister of State Niamh Smyth TD has welcomed the legislation, describing it as an important step in ensuring AI is developed and used ethically, transparently and responsibly.

A key part of the Bill is the creation of the AI Office of Ireland, which will coordinate the implementation and regulation of AI across the country.

As AI becomes an increasing part of everyday life, business, education and public services, the new legislation aims to balance innovation with safeguards for people and organisations.

What are your thoughts on AI regulation? Is it a positive step, or do you have concerns about how AI is developing?

A new chapter begins for local representation in our area as TP O'Reilly - County Councillor has been elected Cathaoirleach of Ballyjamesduff Municipal District.

The chain of office was formally handed over by outgoing Cathaoirleach Trevor Smith, who reflected on a year that saw investment in housing, community facilities, tourism projects and local infrastructure across the district.

Among the projects highlighted were the refurbishment of the former Percy French Hotel, improvements at Cavan County Museum, new housing developments and the opening of the new Ballyjamesduff Fire Station.

Congratulations to T.P. O'Reilly on taking up the role and best wishes for the year ahead as Cathaoirleach. We also thank Trevor Smith for his service and commitment to the district over the past year.
