Some of you may or may not know that I went to school for Arts Administration which is essentially a business degree for arts organizations/nonprofits. Through the curriculum and opportunities at Christopher Newport University, I built a solid foundation for what I do now which is support other businesses in marketing, messaging, and design.

So, when Ferguson Center for the Arts at CNU asked me to help create a piece of art to celebrate 20 years, you better believe I said yes without any hesitation!

We brainstormed, measured, measured again (so many windows!), created mockups, and viola! The finished piece was installed last week. Using several licensed pieces of art, we were able to make their vision come to life.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be a part of something so special at my alma mater. If you haven't seen a show at this venue--please do! They bring in some amazing artists and know how vital the arts are to a thriving community.

Like most of you, I am managing virtual learning for my kiddos and running a business. This new normal was a bit of an adjustment, but the more time I take to reflect, the more thankful I am for the option to provide safety for our family, spend extra time with my kids (while they are young--they grow up so quickly), and have autonomy to adjust my business as needed. To all of you in this position, remember, deep breaths, patience, and love. We can all get through this one day at a time!

All of us have a list of tools that we use to run/operate our business. Some that we try are winners and others leave a lot to be desired.

I’ve always been a huge advocate for wufoo forms. It’s a quick form builder that can easily be shared or embedded. And all of the entries can be exported via Excel.

Well, I recently discovered Cognito Forms and it is amazing. If you need a form that can do the above plus perform equation based problems (similar to excel) then you should definitely check it out! I was able to create an expense report for a client that automatically adds the totals and allows for receipt uploads. It was amazing!

Just wanted to share a small project I worked on last month! It was a custom design for Roots Surrogacy prior to a convention they were attending. I absolutely fell in love with this design and was so thrilled to hear it was a big hit!

All of these items are needed for success: idea, passion, time, and action. When I work with clients, they usually come to me with an idea; and their passion is obvious as they describe their dream.

It is freeing up time and making things happen that they usually struggle with. That is where I can help. That is where my passion is--helping. Helping others apply action to their ideas.
