Hackers are now using coronavirus maps to steal data from your computer and infect it with malware.

These websites pose as genuine maps for tracking coronavirus, but have a different URL or different details from the original source.

Research from security firm Check Point noted that coronavirus related domains are 50 percent more likely to install malware in your system.

As always, use a strong antivirus/malware program and a secure browser like Firefox.

We are seeing many posts from people concerned that they have been hacked and/or are having fake friend requests sent out in their name.

To check to see if you have been hacked:

• Go to the arrow in the upper right-hand corner of your page and click on it and then select 'Settings'.

• Choose 'Security and Login' from the menu on the left side.

• You will see a list of all of the devices that you've logged into and their locations. If there is a login you don't recognize, it is possible that you may have been hacked.

• Next to the device or location that is unfamiliar click the symbol on the right and select 'End Activity'.

• At this point, Facebook will scan your profile and give you an opportunity to reset your password.

We recommend setting up the Two-factor authentication, which can also be done from the 'Security and Login' page.

Received a scam email?

Forward it on to [email protected], and a proxy email address will start replying to the scammer for you.

A bot will keep the scammer busy emailing back and forth with them and wasting their time.

For now, Re:scam will be powering down.

No More Ransom is a repository of keys and applications that can decrypt data locked by different types of ransomware.

This is a joint effort by Europol, the Dutch police, Kaspersky and McAfee to help people who've been compromised by ransomware get their data back without paying off criminals.

Ransomware is malware that locks your computer and mobile devices or encrypts your electronic files. When this happens, you can’t get to the data unless you pay a ransom. However this is not guaranteed and you should never pay!
