With my years of experience creating, designing, and making, I understand the passion that goes into the design process and the presence needed to stand out. Broadbent Studio was founded to help makers like yourself create impactful presences to make them stand out with tailored branding and web design by a professional graphic and web designer. I offer branding services that a) allow you to attract high-end clients and b) create visual consistency and order in your marketing to reduce guesswork. I primarily offer these services to:

🌸 Small & Medium Businesses: I work with medium-sized business owners who want to spend more time doing what they love by providing reliable services that increase your revenue and value by forming trust with your target audience.

🌸 Fempreneurs: I work with solopreneurs who are looking to increase their clients’ quality and audience reach by bringing consistency to their business’s identity. If you are interested in learning more about creating consistency in your business’ presence and reducing the guesswork when creating content, email me at [email protected].

When a clinic or practice gets genuinely clear about who they serve—and builds a brand identity and website that honestly reflect that—a consistent pattern tends to follow.

Fewer wrong inquiries. More patients who arrive already feeling like a fit. Referrals that get more precise. And one shift most practitioners don't anticipate.

Swipe through to see all four.

A useful test for any firm or practice owner:

Pull up your website and your closest competitor's side by side. Remove both logos.

Could a prospective client tell which firm was which? Is there anything in the visual language, the tone, the structure, or the way services are described that is specifically and recognizably yours?

If the answer is no — if the sites are effectively interchangeable without the logo — that isn't a design problem you can solve with a refresh. It's a positioning gap that hasn't been named yet.

The firms that pass this test aren't the ones with the largest marketing budgets.

They're the ones who did the strategic work first. Who defined clearly who they serve, what they do differently, and why the right client should choose them specifically. And who then let that clarity drive every design decision.

That sequence — strategy before aesthetics — is what produces a brand identity and website that can stand on its own, with or without the logo.

Today is my birthday — and I'm the kind of person who takes them seriously. 🎂

Not because I need a reason to celebrate, but because I think there's something genuinely useful about stopping once a year and asking: what did this year teach me? What's clearer now than it was twelve months ago?

This year taught me that I belong in rooms I used to avoid. Becoming President of FemCity Hamilton and Burlington pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best possible way. I've spent most of my career more comfortable behind the work than in front of an audience. This year I had to show up in front of the room — and it turns out I have more to say there than I gave myself credit for.

This year also clarified who I'm meant to work with.

I've loved design for a long time. What I've come to understand more deeply is that what actually lights me up is watching what happens to a health and wellness practice when the brand finally reflects the quality of the care inside it. Seeing a solo practitioner feel proud to hand over her card. Watching a clinic owner realize their website is doing the work they used to do manually on every intake call.

And I've discovered how much I love the bigger, more complex work too — multi-practitioner clinics and growing practices where the foundation needs to hold something larger. That work challenges me differently, and I'm here for it.

Health and wellness, big or small, solo or team. This is where I do my best work and where I want to keep growing.

Grateful for another year. And for everyone who's been part of it. 🌹

Here's something clinic owners and firm leaders don't always consider.

Your brand isn't just recruiting clients. It's recruiting your next team member.

Senior associates, skilled practitioners, talented specialists — the people you actually want to bring into your practice or firm — evaluate your brand the same way prospective clients do. It signals how seriously you take your own positioning of whether this is a place worth growing into.

A practice or firm that looks generic, dated, or inconsistent sends a quiet message to the exact candidates it's trying to attract: we haven't invested in ourselves. And that message lands, even when it was never intended.

The firms and clinics that consistently attract the calibre of associate or partner they actually want almost always have one thing in common — they've done the work to look like the kind of place a skilled professional would want to be part of.
Your brand identity and website are doing that work whether you've thought about it or not.

Many regulated professionals feel stuck when it comes to showcasing their work online.

They can't always use testimonials the way other businesses can — they have professional standards to uphold. So they play it safe. Stay neutral. Stay quiet.

But safe and forgettable aren't the same thing.

You can be entirely compliant with your college guidelines and still have a visual presence that feels personal, memorable, and true to who you actually are. Using clear, plain language and designing a website with intention — the same care you bring to your work — makes a real difference.

We're working with a client right now whose work is rooted in warmth and groundedness. We're building toward a warm, beachy palette that feels as inviting and settled as the community she's spent years creating. Sandy tones, soft coral, calm blues — choices that say: you're safe here, you're welcome here. And they genuinely reflect who she is.

That's always the goal.

Search for any professional service category in your city.

Law firms. Accounting practices. Consultancies. HR Firms.

Within a few minutes, you’ll notice a pattern. Navy blue. White. Grey. A stock photo of a handshake or skyline. A tagline about integrity, excellence and client-focused solutions. Scroll through ten competitors' websites, and you could swap logos without anyone noticing.

This isn’t an aesthetics problem. It’s a positioning problem.

When a firm looks indistinguishable from the others, potential clients default to the only differentiator left: price. If nothing on your website tells them why you’re a better fit, they’ll shop the way people shop for paper towels and other commodities.

I’m currently working with a business coach, and her brand identity direction is the opposite of that generic template. It’s clean, modern and inspired by Japanese design principles: strategy before aesthetics. More on that project soon!

In the meantime: if a potential client saw your firm’s website next to your closest competitor’s without the logos - could they tell which was which?

The professional guidelines don’t require you to be forgettable. They require accuracy, appropriate claims and ethical positioning, all of which are entirely compatible with a visual presence that is warm, specific and distinctly you.

A website that clearly describes your approach in plain language is compliant.
A visual identity that reflects your values and the clients you do your best with is compliant.

A brand that communicates both expertise and humanity, that makes the right person feel like they’ve found exactly who they were looking for, is compliant.

Compliance-safe and unmistakably you. Both are possible. Both are the standard every brand identity and website project at Broadbent Studio meets.

Most professionals think about their website a couple of times — at launch, and maybe again after a major transition. Then they don't revisit it for years while their practice grows and changes around it.

The result is a digital waiting room that reflects who they were when they started. Not who they are now, and not where they're going.

If a client walked into a physical waiting room with flickering lights, outdated signage, and no clear indication of where to go or what to expect — you'd fix it immediately. Your website is no different. It's simply the room where most clients sit first, often weeks before they ever reach out.

Your digital waiting room deserves the same attention you'd give a physical one. Not because your practice isn't credible. Not because you don't know what you're doing. But because your website may not be doing you any favours — and most of the time, you can't see it until someone else points it out.

When did you last really look at yours?

When visitors land on your website, they've already made the decision that they need help.

What they're doing there is something more specific — they're trying to figure out whether they can trust you to provide it.

Often they're quietly asking themselves:
💎 Does this person understand what I'm going through?
💎Are they credible?
💎 Do they feel like the right fit?

Without realizing it, they're evaluating everything they see. Your website, your photos, your words—all of it either builds that trust or quietly erodes it.

That's exactly what Matko Photography was experiencing when she came to me.

She's a talented photographer with a beautiful portfolio, but her website wasn't giving potential clients a specific reason to choose her over anyone else. It wasn't bad; it was just generic. And generic doesn't give someone something to hold onto.

After her rebrand and new website, people started reaching out. She began sharing her site with confidence. Her online presence now genuinely reflects the warm, welcoming experience she creates during her shoots — both in person and online.

A website that does its job is worth investing in. If yours isn't doing that yet, it might be time to take a closer look.
