I have so many feelings about 2025. ‘It was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness…it was the season of Light, it was the winter of despair…..’
I cried. I laughed till I peed. I had a lot of ‘why is this my fu***ng life’ followed by ‘WHAT? How is this my life!!!!’ S**t got hard. S**t got easy. AND I have two very, very, verrrrry new projects 1) I feel pretty! And you should too! Prizes for the first 25 new followers . ALSO I worked with in the Galapagos! we’ve got lots more planned for 2026 abroad and across the state of California. Come for the dogs, stay for the love

This has been a hard year—for a lot of us.

I’ve spent one million hours this week mulling.
I sat at my desk and mulled.
My dog Lou and I did zoomies around the studio and I mulled.
I lay on the floor listening to ‘The Sound of Music’ and mulled (don’t judge! It’s my thing!).

Here is what I came up with.

It’s been a hard fu***ng year.
Between politics, the environment, the general ‘is the world ending’ vibe - not to mention the hot mess that is season 3 of ‘And Just Like That’.

A. Hard. Fu***ng. Year.

You know what has helped me?

MY DOG LOU.

He is just there.
His big eyes, his warm little body, his weird obsessions.
His steady breath reminds me to breathe when I think I just cannot any longer.

Lou is soft place to land.

In honor of my dog Lou, who as we speak, is under my desk licking my toes (true story) I’ve got something I am cooking up.

Something that celebrates every dog that ushered us through a challenging time….

I’ve got a few more things to mull over, but I’m going to have every box checked by tomorrow!

This Soft Place to Land thing is going to be very limited to keep an eye out for tomorrow’s post.

My beautiful, brilliant, talented, funny, bad ass Mother passed yesterday at 4:36 pm. She was surrounded by family and friends.

I don’t have words for how much I will miss her. How is it that I’ll never again eat her short ribs with noodles, matzo balls, chicken snitchel, roast chicken, salmon, bacon quiche and jam still hot from the stove. I’ll never have the joy of watching her tell off a policeman, manically drive over a sidewalk trying to escape a speeding ticket, or suss out the exact herb that brings a dish from basic to divine.

As reminded me this morning, there will be no more ‘Oh Ellen’ with fond exasperation, as I cry for the millionth time over a 90’s tearjerker of a movie, read about an injured dog, or discover that my favorite Korean skin line has stopped making my overpriced moisturizer.

She would text me after every single photo shoot (Every one!) to ask how it went, when we traveled together she patiently trudged along to every single photography exhibit, even the really obscure ones, and pretended she wasn’t bored when I stared at the same photograph for ever and ever (and ever!).

Bonnie wanted to be cremated, and for her ashes to be scattered at Crystal Cove in Newport Beach where she surfed in high school—in the 1950’s, the only girl surfer in a sea of boys!

We are planning a memorial at Crystal Cove -tentatively scheduled for Saturday, December 7- to spread her ashes, tell stories and share memories. Please reach out to me privately for more info.
