We need to share some sad news from the Late Bloomers Garden Club and the Farmers Market. Our dear friend and colleague, Susan Schrag, has passed away from cancer at the age of 71. Susan was a calming influence on our group. She was the voice of reason when we couldn’t come to a conclusion. With her attorney background, she taught us all about what we could and couldn’t do especially when it came to the market. Lovingly known as “Secretary Susan”, she kept the notes and information about meetings and events and made sure they were sent out to us with as much flair and decoration as she could create. She loved animals and cooking and gardening. She would get excited about showing off her garden and loved to share plants with others. She made fabulous soup and cookies. We are all a bit broken without her but if we take a step back, we can hopefully handle her leaving with the same grace and dignity that she had in her last few weeks. Please send some healing thoughts or prayers into the universe for our sister and our friend. If I know Susan, she will appreciate them all.

It's a bittersweet time of year when we put the planting beds to rest on Ardmore Blvd. Almost 1000 bulbs are buried and ready to rise again in the warmth of Spring. It was a bit chilly and damp but this is what we do best! A special thanks to Jimmy and Bob from Public Works for keeping us safe while we planted.
