Did you hear? Our vision has expanded, so we just wrapped our final done-for-you marketing contract.

We're focusing our attention on Impact with Profit, our 8-week accelerator designed to help ambitious but overworked and underpaid entrepreneurs build thriving coaching businesses and sell their programs for between $997-$3K.

Our passion is helping these clients master mindset, monetization, and content marketing techniques, so they can ditch self-doubt and marketing overwhelm and truly experience financial and time freedom.

To our StorySuite clients and supporters,

I launched this content marketing agency in 2016. My vision was to take the weight off nonprofits and businesses by managing their marketing and communications. It's been a joy, and I'm honored to have served dozens of clients (one for the entire five years!) and others we've served for long and short-term projects. We've done everything from produce video series to end-of-year fundraising campaigns to monthly newsletters.

No one can tell your business' story better than you. Not even a marketing agency.

That's why I've pivoted from managing my client's marketing plans to COACHING my clients on how to implement their own successful marketing strategies to find and retain customers.

Don't get me wrong, there are some solid marketing agencies out there, but at the end of the day, they aren't experiencing the day-to-day life within your company, so they have to wait on you to provide context, photos, videos, and your updates to share your unique story. And if you decide to part ways with the agency--then what? You may not even know how to continue what they started.

Here's a sneak peek at two pics from my new photoshoot. I encourage my clients- especially if they are service providers- to take new brand photos, including headshots, every year or two to freshen up their marketing. That way, people can see the most accurate representation of you.

We all know how time can change our looks. Looking back at pics from my last photoshoot, I can tell the difference! Hey, I've grown a lot--I've added a kid, a master's degree, and a couple of pounds! But despite my changes, there's something so refreshing about posing for shots that you know will grace your own business' website and social media pages.

As someone who’s managed social media accounts for a living, I know this sounds counterproductive, but it's true. And here's why:

1) Not everyone that follows you on social media will buy from you,

2) Social media algorithms make it difficult to reach audiences through posts alone. 88% of people use sites like Facebook just to stay in touch with friends and family...not look at your business page.

If you want to build a brand that people keep coming back to support, you need a cohesive marketing and communications plan. Social media is just one piece of the puzzle. And your strategy doesn't have to be complicated.

TBT: Here I am as a reporter and anchor in Maine, circa 2013. I was young, zealous, and eager to tell the stories of people who didn't have a platform to speak for themselves (and yes, I covered a lot of snowstorms, too).

My experience as a journalist taught me so much about storytelling: how to craft stories that engage people, how to use video to propel individuals to take action, and how businesses can actually capture attention from the media (because I'm speaking from firsthand experience).

These were priceless experiences, and I love empowering entrepreneurs with this knowledge.

The next time you have a virtual presentation, you should purposely spill coffee on your shirt.

I know it sounds crazy, but it would make you more personable to your audience, especially if you're a service provider, like a coach or consultant.

It's called the Pratfall Effect. It's a theory that people like experts more if they make a mistake or showcase their flaws. Showing that you aren't perfect makes people identify with you more.

Psychologist Elliot Aronson discovered this during a social experiment when he asked college students at the University of Minnesota to rate the likability of individuals they heard on a tape recording. They gave the highest ratings to the people who spilled coffee.

Now, I'm not saying you should actually spill coffee at your next networking call, but as an expert at what you do, you want to show people that you're human.

Because humans connect and HIRE other relatable humans.

This is the #1 complaint I get from new clients.

They don't know what to post on social media to promote their business. It CAN be challenging trying to dream up content--especially quality content that separates you from everyone else online.

But you can simplify the process!

Here's what I always suggest they do first....visualize their ideal customer. Seriously, I mean block out 30 minutes of your day, sit down with a pen and paper, and think about your perfect customer's demographics and needs.

Once you REALLY know your customer, you know how to market to them in a way that captures their attention.

That's why I always help my clients build what I call their 'ideal customer personas' when they start working with me.
