In addition, how could the former DJ born in that specific borough not to mention hip-hop on a stage such as this?

✨ What if... Heart rate zones were classified by the vibes of the “summer” of Kendrick Lamar songs? ✨
1) This just popped into my head when looking at my own life changes and preparation for the new year. Why not have some fun with one of the most common New Year’s Resolutions?
2) I couldn't help myself—music gives ALL of the feels, and the cultural significance of the Kendrick x Drake beef is one of the most impactful happenings in 2024, and I wanted a different way to visualize feelings at the intersection of vibes and rhythm.
3) One of my favorite things about these songs is directly connected to the depth within the lyrics and performance. Yes, you can point to problematic passages, which are inherent in beef (shout out to passion). However, dissecting what a master of artistry like Kendrick provides is one of the best things about creativity.
4) This is a moment that illustrates how much depth matters. Some may think this was a singular moment, especially those who think massive successes come from luck or catching the proverbial shooting star. Yet, the origins of this moment can be traced back more than 10 years, potentially catalyzed by Kendrick's 2013 Control verse. History is a thing, y’all.
Similarly to how the MCU and Avengers End Game found so much success after 20+ other movies that led up to it, any giant success is built up over time. Depth matters a lot when making connections—no matter the industry.
Let’s use that idea as a “new” year's resolution, OK?

When you get what you need, you want to give back. So, when that lasting request candy to chat with students at , I knew what I had to do.
Shout out to the students I met and talked to about & . Y'all are the future and you have people to help create lanes and facilitate more conversations.
In addition, the feeling on being on that campus were and are different in a way that reinforces the mission I've been on. To the student that mentioned it as one of their favorites (I ask all students about their favorites), Howard University IS a brand and I felt a different level of connectivity speaking there for the first of what I hope to be many times.
