Me: Hey God.
God: Hello.....
Me: I'm falling apart. Can you put me back together?
God: I would rather not.
Me: Why?
God: Because you aren't a puzzle.
Me: What about all of the pieces of my life that are falling down onto the ground?
God: Let them stay there for a while. They fell off for a reason. Take some time and decide if you need any of those pieces back.
Me: You don't understand! I'm breaking down!
God: No - you don't understand. You are breaking through. What you are feeling are just growing pains. You are shedding the things and the people in your life that are holding you back. You aren't falling apart. You are falling into place. Relax. Take some deep breaths and allow those things you don't need anymore to fall off of you. Quit holding onto the pieces that don't fit you anymore. Let them fall off. Let them go.
Me: Once I start doing that, what will be left of me?
God: Only the very best pieces of you.
Me: I'm scared of changing.
God: I keep telling you - YOU AREN'T CHANGING!! YOU ARE BECOMING!
Me: Becoming who?
God: Becoming who I created you to be! A person of light and love and charity and hope and courage and joy and mercy and grace and compassion. I made you for more than the shallow pieces you have decided to adorn yourself with that you cling to with such greed and fear. Let those things fall off of you. I love you! Don't change! ... Become! Become! Become who I made you to be. I'm going to keep telling you this until you remember it.
Me: There goes another piece.
God: Yep. Let it be.
Me: So ... I'm not broken?
God: Of course Not! - but you are breaking like the dawn. It's a new day

Never Let The Lack of what you don't have define You

As Jimmy trudged down the worn-out sidewalk,
tears streamed down his face.
He couldn't shake off the embarrassment of not
having decent shoes like his classmates.
"Why me?" he muttered, kicking a pebble in frustration.

Suddenly, he stumbled upon a man sitting on the pavement,
his legs missing below the knee.
Jimmy froze, his eyes widening with shock.
"Hey, kid, why the long face?"
the man asked, his voice surprisingly cheerful.

Through his tears,
Jimmy managed to stutter,
"I'm... I'm upset because I don't have nice shoes like everyone else."

The man chuckled, a sound that echoed off the nearby buildings.
"Shoes, huh? Let me tell ya somethin', kid. Shoes ain't everything in life."

Jimmy frowned, perplexed by the man's words.
"But everyone makes fun of me for not having them," he protested.

The man nodded sympathetically.
"I get it. But ya see, I don't have legs, and yet here I am,
smilin' away. Life's full of surprises, ain't it?"

Jimmy wiped his tears,
his mind buzzing with thoughts.
"You're right," he admitted,
a hint of a smile tugging at his lips.
"I never thought about it that way."

The man clapped him on the shoulder,
a gesture filled with warmth. "That's the spirit, kid!
Remember, it ain't about what ya have on the outside,
but what ya carry inside your heart."

With newfound determination,
Jimmy thanked the man and continued on his way.
As he walked, his burdens felt lighter,
his steps more purposeful.
And from that day on,
he never let the lack of what he doesn't have define his worth,
knowing that true strength came from within.

The sun had already risen, casting a golden glow over the sleepy town of khayelitsha. Mikel and Zamo, two best friends with hearts racing faster than their footsteps, dashed down the winding path leading to their school. It was a familiar scene for the pair, notorious for their tardiness.

"We're going to be in so much trouble," Mikel panted, his backpack bouncing with each hurried step.

Zamo, ever the optimist, glanced at his watch and replied, "We still have a chance if we run like the wind!"

As they reached a crossroads, Mikel stopped abruptly, his chest heaving. "We should pray for forgiveness. Maybe if we ask God for help, our teacher won't be too harsh on us."

Zamo, however, shook his head. "We can't rely solely on prayers. Let's keep moving and pray on the go. If we're swift enough, we might just make it."

With determination etched on their faces, they resumed their sprint. The morning air echoed with their prayers, a mix of desperation and hope intertwined with each step they took. khayelitsha blurred past them, a flurry of colors and shapes as they pushed their limits.

Breathless and panting, they skidded to a stop at the school gates. The bell tolled ominously in the distance, signaling the start of the first lesson. With bated breath, they glanced at each other before rushing through the entrance, hoping against hope that they hadn't missed the mark.

To their surprise, the classroom was abuzz with activity, the teacher's attention diverted elsewhere. With a shared sigh of relief, Mikel and Zamo slipped into their seats, their hearts still racing from the mad dash.

As the day unfolded, they realized that their journey to school was more than just a race against time; it was a testament to their friendship and resilience in the face of adversity.

And so, amidst the chaos and uncertainty, Mikel and Zamo learned a valuable lesson: sometimes, it's not about how fast you run, but who you run with that truly matters.
