Cracker Barrel CEO Julie Felss Masino admitted she felt “fired by America” after facing intense backlash over the company’s 2025 redesign. The redesign, which involved updates to the brand’s iconic logo and restaurant interiors, was heavily criticized for straying too far from the company’s traditional Americana roots.

“I feel like I’ve been fired by America,” Masino remarked in an interview, reflecting on the overwhelming negative reaction to the changes.

The redesign aimed to give Cracker Barrel a more modern image but quickly sparked accusations that it was abandoning its nostalgic identity. In response, the company decided to reverse the logo change and halt further remodeling. Despite the criticism, shareholders voted to keep Masino as CEO.

This controversy mirrors other rebranding missteps by companies that attempted to refresh their image, only to face resistance from their customers. The incident highlights the difficulty of innovating while maintaining consumer loyalty to a well-established brand identity.
