I don’t think branded content needs to be inherently transactional, especially not in a traditional financial sense. That said, I would agree if the request/reward dynamic is liberally defined. If a customer simply engaging with your content content can qualify as both the request & the reward in this sense (provided that content is at the very least entertaining enough for the to engage with it, thereby giving them something in return), then any quality branded content would meet these qualifications.

Whether you’re building a new product or producing a piece of art, you will get better results when creating with a a defined goal in mind that is directly linked to the independent function of said creation, as opposed to how it functions relative to other similar creations. If your main objective is to create something better than the next guy’s, you severely diminish your possibilities by narrowing your focus. When creating with a desire to fulfill a pure & practical purpose, your creative endeavors having a much greater chance of being the best they can be, as opposed to simply being better. 👍
