Wednesday Wardrobe Problem & Solution

Problem: “My suit always looks the same.”

Solution: Change the supporting pieces.

Instead of wearing this chocolate brown suit with a traditional blouse, I added an ivory waistcoat and camel neck scarf.

The ivory creates contrast and a lighter focal point through the centre, while the chocolate brown provides structure. The cognac handbag and shoes continue the warm colour harmony.

A polished image begins with understanding how the eye travels through an outfit.

When similar colours are repeated vertically—as I’m demonstrating today with burgundy—the eye continues moving rather than stopping at contrasting horizontal breaks.

The result is an outfit that can appear:

• longer and more streamlined
• coordinated and intentional
• sophisticated without being complicated

Then we add structure through the blazer and outerwear.

This is the difference between simply wearing clothes and intentionally building an image.

Line is one of the most powerful elements of design.

Vertical lines encourage the eye to travel smoothly through an outfit, creating visual continuity and helping the overall image appear more balanced and intentional.

One of the techniques I teach my clients is the Tower of Power — creating a strong column through the body and then building the remainder of the outfit around it.

Understanding principles such as colour, line, proportion and silhouette allows you to stop guessing about what to wear.

MONDAY | COLOUR AUTHORITY

Colour harmony is one of the foundations of a well-designed wardrobe.

Today I’ve combined deep burgundy with rich green and warm leather tones — colours that share the depth and warmth found within my Autumn palette.

Notice that the colours do not have to be identical to coordinate.

A successful personal palette gives you a family of colours that can be mixed and repeated throughout your wardrobe, making it easier to create outfits that appear intentional and cohesive.
