I recently received a text wich asked why I had called them in fact I hadn’t called them someone though an online sales site that I have items advertised on with my number clearly visible had cloned my number and tried to to phone Them

After speaking with EE this appears to be a fairly common accururance and the reason they use your phone number to scam them is they Google your number and they don’t find anything so the people think it’s strange but don’t concider they could have potentially been someone’s next victim and if they text or call the number that tried to ring them they get through to you a completely clueless person who without looking would probably say “sorry I must have pocket dialed you”

If you get a text from someone you don’t know alway check it’s a mobile number before you call back or text as you could be charged for the call or text

Never give any information if a company calls you simply say “you might be who you say you are but the safest thing for me to do is to end the call and ring you back on a number I trust” any legitimate company trying to contact will most likely completely understand and be fine with you calling them back for peace of mind !

We have had numerous posts about “new beds” for sale on Facebook arriving broken or with lats that don’t fit or the wrong bed paying cash on delivery I can’t stress this enough never ever ever ever pay cash on delivery if your buying a bed buy it through PayPal (not family or freind) or get it off eBay or just pay by card (not bank transfer)

PayPal when buying as product,service,business if your product arrives damaged or doesn’t arrive you will get your money back

eBay has a money back guarantee regardless of if you pay with (PayPal,debit card,credit card ) you are covered and will get a refund

Paying by card (credit or debit) there is a (“section 75” for credit cards only) which holds the creditor responsible for the purchase and with debit cards if you haven’t recived the item or if the item is not as described it is covered under fraud (from my experience with Barclays UK)

NEVER PAY CASH
Most reputable company’s will offer some kind of card payment or PayPal for big ticket items (e.g. beds,couches and white goods)
