I just finished training on the 3 types of stories that build rapport & your business online.

Here's a quick overview:

1. Soap box story

This is the thing that you can talk about for an hour with no prep. You've got passion for it, you've done your research, and it is a hill you will stay on.

Write that story

2. The "boring" stories

Most of the world does the same "boring" things. When you can document it then you're building community and rapport.

Think about creating these like you have a documentary crew following you around all day. What would they capture? What is it that you do every single day?

3. Your business story

My first coach started a business with $2.03 to her name out of the trunk of her car and a pay phone booth.

Why can I repeat that? Because she shared it so many times, I learned her story. You should be sharing your business story so many times that other people can repeat it back to yo.

4 years ago, I had a 300% profit increase after my first business conference.

Jan of 2019, I went to a conference in Orlando, Florida.

I had decided to go 2.5 weeks before.

Bought a flight on Frontier.

And flew to what would be my first of many personal development trips.

I sat in 3 days of a conference with my eyes glued open. Trying to take in every single possible thing that I could.

I wanted to hear from this successful entrepreneur who had built multiple 7-figure businesses and meet everyone I possibly could.

My head was buzzing from all the new information, yet I knew I had to take action quickly if I wanted to see the results they were talking about.

3 days after leaving the event, I called the guy I was working for to let him know my rates had increased/ask for a raise

I really hoped he couldn't hear how badly I was shaking through the phone 😂😅

He happily agreed. Which was a 300% jump in what he was paying me

Then, in February of 2019, I got my business license.

In March of 2019, I got my next two clients

And there has been rapid expansion from there.

Why am I sharing this with you?

For me, that conference changed my life. For you, it could be this one

(and no Frontier flights required 😉)

Reminder, social media can feel really heavy and emotionally draining

This weekend could be a good opportunity to take time away from your phone and focus on the people in front of you.

Being on a platform and seeing other people's anger, frustration, and hurt can affect the way you show up.

Your clients will still be on social media next week.

Most common mistakes I see coaches make with offer posts

1. Don’t hook people in
2. Have desperate energy when writing
3. Don't give enough details
4. Make it all about the provider and not the client (look @ me vs come with me)
5. No clarity on what the transformation actually is
6. Not enough relationship building (aka the other 4 types of posts)
7. Weak call to action
8. Leading with the price, not the value
9. No stories

What business did a 19 year old have taking over a company's social media?

Probably none 😂 but that’s how I got started in the business world.

After my freshman year of college, I got hired by a company helping veterans with their VA claims to run their social media and blogging.

I knew nothing about the process. But I learned anyways.

I wrote blogs every single day.

I created social media posts every single day.

For 3 years I wrote content and practiced the skill of writing to figure out what worked best.

I would post something and it wouldn’t do well. So I’d adjust what I believed needed to change, and then try again.

I was writing these posts as I was in college, learning PR and marketing.

(Which was probably the most frustrating part, but that’s a story for another time)

I had 15 hours a semester of classes

Running the social media accounts for 1-4 clients at a time

Traveling every other weekend

In clubs and organizations

And still hung out with friends

There are a few things I want to call out from this
1. It’s the highlights. I was also staying up till 1 am most nights, drinking bang to stay awake through class and creating content
2. There’s always time. I learned how to work on the things that were most important and find time while traveling to finish the needed content
3. Having a system helps. I had figured out how to write 3 weeks' worth of content in 90 minutes and was using that with all of my clients to be able to knock out the basics of content and then plan how to go in with stories and add engaging topics
4. You can learn anything. I did it from Google, YouTube, and experience. But if you don’t want to go through that process, I’d be happy to teach you
5. The trends will change but the fundamentals of connecting with people will always be the same

The last coach I invested in, I got “instant results.” But it was NOT because I signed up to coach with her.

It was because I did the work.

Before our coaching sessions, I was digging deeper, figuring out what I needed help with, and coming to the table with the top struggles.

During the coaching sessions, I was going way deeper than my pain avoidance wanted to

And then after I was marketing my program, talking to people, and doing what I knew I needed to when showing up.

So yeah I closed $18k the second week we were working together.

But I also turned down 2 potential clients in the 3rd week.

It was because I was doing the work and lasered focused on what I wanted.

Get clear on what you want. You’ll be shocked at the results

A paper has 2 sides to it, right?

Again, not a trick question

This is just the law of polarity at work

This law says that forces come in pairs. So positive must be paired with negative.
There fundamentally has to be both.

When rona hit 2 years ago, there were people who thrived. And there were people who were
devastated

And if you noticed, a big reason why the people who thrived were the ones who understood good marketing and started using it immediately to pivot and talk to people

The same thing is happening right now. There is a good marketing campaign happening to get you to move in one way or another.

(the recession, impending financial doom, ya know, that thing)

But now you’ve seen it, and you get to choose what step you want to take.

You can learn marketing for yourself so that you’re not a victim of your circumstances any
longer.

You’ve spent years, hundreds of dollars, and countless hours on your craft and mindset.

Your elevator pitch, 1 sentence statement, bio.

Doesn’t matter what you call it. It’s the easiest way to tell people what you do for work. It’s a really simple formula, and once you create one it makes it really simple to adjust and tweak as your business changes.

I ____ ______ how to _______ (optional) in ______
Don’t worry, I’ll show you exactly what those blanks are supposed to have in them.

I _____ - this one is easy. Choose the best one for you. Teach, help, equip, train, coach, etc. It’s whatever you’re doing

Second _____ - who is it that you help. Now before you fight me on this that it’s too limiting and people won’t like it and you’re restricting the number of people who you can help with, google how many of your ideal clients are in the world.

For example, according to a 2021 study, there are 71,000 life coaches in the world.

There are an estimated 2 billion moms in the world.

In 2021, there were 5 million homeschooling parents.

Test niching down and see how it works to get the right people to work with you.

How to ____ - what is the thing that you’re actually helping people do. This normally comes from research that you’ve done with your ideal clients and how they’ve told you that they need help with something and you know that you can help with it.

If a 6 year old can tell what problem you solve that’s a great sign.

Optional time frame - some of your programs are 60,90,120 day programs and that’s all you need. Tell people that so they have a realistic end date

Now you’re putting it all together.
