And that’s a wrap — what a surprising and fulfilling year 2022 has been!

A well deserved holiday and many glasses of wine are needed (dare I say WINE and not coffee?) 🍷

I will be out of office beginning on December 22nd and returning on January 3rd!

And as you all know my rollercoaster of a relationship with the good ol’ IG, I’ll be off stories as well.

But I’ll be back in the new year with more Pinterest tips and of course, all the coffee obsessed inspo 📌☕️

For now, it’s time to bust out the cozy socks and pour a glass (or three).

In the meantime, I wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and cheers to 2023! 🥂

Pinterest alone will not explode your business.

Pinterest is only part of the entire marketing funnel and customer journey -

it’s the discovery and inspiration stage where people will find you and your content.

But that’s it.

After Pinterest helps your ideal customer discover you, it’s your job to pull them down the rest of your marketing funnel to keep them.

For Pinterest to be most effective, you want an audience that engages with your content on Pinterest all the time because they know there’s value on the other side (the other side being your blog, website, socials, shop)

If the other side isn’t built out, they’ll come from Pinterest once and once only.

But they won’t engage, they wont follow, they wont save your content and come back for more because they’re not being converted beyond that.

Pinterest is incredible at what it does, and will bring you thousands of fresh eyes and traffic daily.

But Pinterest alone will not convert your audience into raving fans.

It’s up to you (and the rest of your marketing funnel) to do that!

So tell me… is the rest of your marketing funnel built out so Pinterest can be most effective? Tell me why or why not in the comments!

I don’t care how many likes you have on TikTok 😎

Honesty time: Some of the things you think are important in regards to Pinterest, aren’t actually important.

What I care most about as your Pinterest manager is the success of your account.

That means creating and implementing a well-rounded strategy, and working towards exceeding our Pinterest goals.

And 99% of the time… that has nothing to do with the monthly views your competitor has, or the amount of likes you have on TikTok.

Most of the things you’re worried about when thinking about Pinterest management, are outside things:
competitors monthly views, likes, your account not being setup yet.

The outside isn’t important to me. The outside can be deceiving and it can change in an instant.

What I care about is what’s on the inside: your funnels, email list, customer journey, website, and content creation.

The inside stuff is what’s going to help make your Pinterest account successful.

The reality is, your competitors monthly views, your TikTok likes, and your not-yet-optimized Pinterest account have zero correlation to how successful we’re going to be.

Don’t focus on outside stuff (monthly views, TikTok likes, not-yet-optimized Pinterest profile)

Do focus on the inside stuff (funnels, email list, customer journey, website, content creation)

The inside is what makes the outside work.

So tell me… Are you focused on the right things for your Pinterest marketing?

Each mistress wants something different to stay happy:

One wants flowers, one wants chocolate, one wants a weekend getaway.

If you try to give one mistress something they don’t want, it’s not going to go over well.

Think about each social media platform as it's own "mistress"...

TikTok is the young, ADHD teenager who wants entertainment

Twitter is the older millennial who wants to keep tabs on everything

Facebook is the Karen mom who loves to complain

Instagram is younger millennial who likes pretty photos

Pinterest is the visionary dreamer who loves to create

If you try to talk to an ADHD teenager the same way you talk to a Karen, you’re wasting your time...

because you’re not communicating with them in a way that they understand and makes them happy.

So talk to your Pinterest mistress (audience) in a way that she understands and makes her happy:

With optimized content for the visionary, creative dreamer who wants to take action on an idea.

Don't simply copy and paste a TikTok and wonder why you're not getting results.

By optimizing your content, you will:

reach more of your ideal audience, grow a bigger following, get more engagement, and drive more traffic...

When your content is optimized for Pinterest in a way that is understood by
the platform.

I have 3 spots open for monthly management this fall! I’d love to show you how we can re-purpose your content for Pinterest this season and explode your business. Work with me through the link in my bio!

How are your Pinterest audience and Instagram audience different?

👉🏼 Pinterest is future focused. Instagram is past focused.

📌 People come to Pinterest to find ideas and inspiration life events that haven't happened yet.
ex) Planning their upcoming wedding

📺 People come to Instagram to catch up on what's already happened.
ex) Their friend who got married last week

👉🏼 Pinterest is idea focused. Instagram is people focused.

📌 Pinners want answers through creative ideas.
ex) How to put together a great date night outfit

📺 People on Instagram want to see their friends and favorite brands.
ex) Their friend who wore a great date night outfit

👉🏼 Pinterest is creation focused. Instagram is engagement focused.

📌 Pinterest requires little to no direct engagement with your audience and cares more about the content and ideas you provide.
ex) Pin every week + go about your day

📺 Instagram requires more engagement with your audience and thrives when it’s constant.
ex) Stories, lives, commenting, sharing every day

To be clear, I'm not saying any of these things cannot apply to the other platform. But generally speaking this is how our audience is a difference between the two platforms.

Pinterest success? Create new, valuable, and actionable ideas for your audience’s future.

If your Pinterest audience isn't converting like you want, this might be why...

You're trying to convert them before you connect with them.

On Pinterest, you must connect with your audience FIRST.

People come to Pinterest to be inspired by the ideas they find, so they haven’t yet made up their mind about what to buy.

That means people come to Pinterest without a brand in mind…

but they leave with a decision.

There’s a trigger moment that happens on Pinterest.

It takes people from inspiration to realization, and actually helps them to make up their mind.

But you must CONNECT with them first, in order to inspire them to make a decision.

Only then can you build trust with them, and convert them later.

So shift your marketing:

1. Connect with them by showing a helpful idea with an engaging pin

2. Inspire them enough to save your pin or click through

3. Convert them through your funnels, website, email list, or wherever you sell best

Pinterest is the “inspiration stage” for your audience.

Connect first, and they will convert after.

I’ve got 3 spots open for Pinterest monthly management this fall! I’d love to show you how we can make Pinterest work for your lifestyle blog.

Straight from the horses mouth (aka - Pinterest): saves are your best bet for tracking success on Pinterest

Um, what? Since when? Let’s break it down:

First, what are saves? To be plain, a save is when your pin is saved to someone’s board on Pinterest.

Someone saw your pin on Pinterest, and liked it enough to save it to one of their boards. Simple as that.

So why does the amount of saves on your Pinterest account now matter more (in Pinterest’s eyes) than the amount of click thru’s you’re getting?

Saves = intent.

People save pins for the purpose of coming back to them later with the intention to take action.

When someone saves your pin, it means the idea resonated with them. It means they want to come back later and try it. It means they like it enough to not lose it and be unable to find it at a future date.

More saves mean more people resonating with your ideas, and more intention to try the ideas you’re inspiring in them.

And guess what? Pinterest’s algorithm pays attention to saved content.

The more people that save your pins and ideas, the bigger chance your pins have to show up for additional, new audiences on Pinterest.

And that’s a darn good win in my opinion.

tldr; Pinterest saves are the best indicator of how your content is performing on Pinterest.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree or disagree that saves are the most important metric for measuring success?
