A new project hits mailboxes this month! Thanks to my friends at the Home Security Superstore for the opportunity to design and manage distribution for this direct mail piece.

One of our biggest projects of the year, the Guthrie, OK Chamber of Commerce Guide, is always a fun one. Yes, it's challenging compiling all of this content, but these kinds of things push me to become a better designer. Thanks to Brittany Timmons, Rochelle Stidham, and Nikki Bos for trusting me with such an important piece. Check it out here! https://indd.adobe.com/view/a9780a21-e0cc-4b79-a193-ef16fe79e4d0

This was a fun one - producing a product catalog for Sizzlefish, an online seafood direct-to-consumer company. Brilliant photography shines in this great example of our design work. Remember, if it goes to press, we can design it, work it through pre-press, postal, and manage any of the inevitable hiccups along the way. With over 50 years of experience, we've seen it all. Let us handle your next printed piece with professionalism and precision. Check out the Sizzlefish catalog here: https://indd.adobe.com/view/57dce8e7-337c-4392-bf50-932890f9c966

I stole this from a LinkedIn post, but it's absolutely the truth. #2, #5, and a sprinkling of #6 are our specialties.

"I had this client who got upset when I said, “Sorry, I can’t make a logo. It’s not really my thing.”
Then they said, “What do you mean? You’re a graphic designer, right?”
Okay, imagine this. You suddenly get blurry vision or your eyes hurt. Would you go to a pediatrician? Nope. You’d see an eye doctor.
It’s the same with graphic design. We all have different specialties.
Here’s a quick rundown:

1. Brand Designer – Builds a brand’s look and feel.

2. Marketing Designer – Makes visuals for ads and promos.

3. UI Designer – Designs how apps and websites look.

4. UX Designer – Focuses on user experience and flow.

5. Editorial Designer – Lays out books, newspapers and magazines.

6. Packaging Designer – Designs boxes, labels, and wraps.

7. Motion Designer – Creates animations and video graphics.

8. Environmental Designer – Designs murals, signage, and displays.

So yeah, not every designer makes logos. We all have our own thing, and that’s what makes design so cool and diverse."

When the Onion’s new owners acquired the satirical publication a year ago, they bet on a dying breed: print subscribers.

It is working.

Filled with spoof ads and satirical headlines that often take swings at the news of the day, the Onion has more than 53,000 subscribers paying as much as $9 a month. The publication has a new deal to sell its papers at Barnes & Noble, and is expecting about $6 million in revenue this year—up from less than $2 million in early 2024.

The Onion isn’t profitable, but Chief Executive Ben Collins aims to turn a profit next year. “People like getting something in the mail that’s not f—ing awful,” he said.

The publication’s results show that old-fashioned media products can find a niche despite changing reader habits and an unforgiving digital landscape.
