Day 2 at McKeon Door.

It’s been a productive one.

We’ve spent the day filming troubleshooting videos covering everything from circuit boards and motors to switches, creating resources that help technicians diagnose and solve problems in the field.

The days are long, starting at 6:30 a.m. and wrapping up around 5:00 p.m., and I still have a mountain of editing ahead of me. But watching this library of content come together has been incredibly rewarding.

Most people only see a door open and close. They never see the engineering behind it, or the people working to keep it operating safely and reliably.

That’s the part of the story I’m here to document.

Day 1. Long Island, New York.

This week I’m trading California hard hats for New York manufacturing.

Today I stepped inside McKEON’s headquarters to begin documenting the people, craftsmanship, and innovation behind some of the fire and life safety systems that protect buildings across the country.

Most people will never think twice about the doors that close during a fire or the systems that help save lives in an emergency. But behind every one of those products are skilled men and women who design, build, and test them with precision.

That’s the story I’m here to tell.

I’m looking forward to taking you behind the scenes over the next several days.

✈️ Touchdown in Long Island, New York.

Tomorrow begins a new chapter documenting the work of another incredible team. Tonight was all about meeting the people behind the projects, getting settled in, and preparing for a busy week ahead.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that every job starts the same way, with a handshake, a conversation, and a group of people who take pride in what they build. The cameras are charged. The memory cards are ready. Now it’s time to tell another story.

📖 UNDER CONSTRUCTION PHOTOGRAPHY: NEW YORK ART DROP

In two weeks, Under Construction Photography heads to New York for another project.

While I’m there documenting the work, I’m also bringing something special with me.

I’ll be hiding a few signed copies of my photography book throughout New York for people to discover.

Each book represents more than photographs, it tells the story of the men and women who build our skylines, bridges, hospitals, stadiums, and infrastructure. It’s a small way of sharing that story with people who may never have stepped onto a construction site.

Throughout the trip, I’ll post clues, behind-the-scenes moments, and reveal where each book has been left.
