Most marketing problems aren’t actually marketing problems.
They’re alignment problems.
This is the framework I use when I work with organizations to figure out what’s really going on beneath the surface.
Not just what needs to be posted.
Not just what campaign to run.
But how the entire brand is functioning.
The SOULFUL Framework™ looks at seven layers:
Structure — Is the identity clear enough to communicate consistently?
Originality — Does the brand actually feel like itself?
Unapologetic — Is the positioning confident or diluted?
Loyalty — Are people internally and externally aligned with what’s being said?
Frequency — Is the message reinforced enough to be remembered?
Understanding — Is strategy grounded in real insight or assumptions?
Legacy — Is this building long-term reputation or just short-term visibility?
When these layers are out of sync, you feel it:
Messaging feels scattered
Teams move in different directions
Campaigns don’t land the way they should
When they’re aligned, everything gets simpler.
Clearer messaging.
Stronger campaigns.
Teams speaking the same language.
A brand people actually trust.
This isn’t about doing more.
It’s about making sure everything is moving in the same direction.
What layer do you think most organizations overlook first?
