There’s a misconception out there that you need to invest in branding right off the bat, but honestly, sometimes clarity takes time, and clarity is an essential piece of good branding.

If you invest in branding too early, your brand often feels like a costume, rather than a mirror.

It’s okay to be in that space, it just means you’re still forming something, and this might be the season for DIY.

But if you have strong convictions around your work, and you’re feeling the friction of a brand that is pieced together and smaller than the work you’re doing, it might be time for your brand to evolve.

If that’s you, I put together a sample of my Brand Journal (the discovery process I go through with all my clients), so you can test the waters and see if the clarity is there before hiring a designer.

It’s 5 questions, and if you can answer them thoughtfully, and your answers make you excited, then that’s a good sign you’re ready to take the next step.

Want to test out your brand’s clarity?
Comment “questions” and I’ll send you the link. (Literally, no robot here!)

The women who choose the Heirloom Brand usually have this in common:

Their business isn’t new, but their brand no longer fits. They’re on the cusp of growth, standing at the gap to the next season of their business and ready to make the leap.

They don’t necessarily want more, they want truer.

The Heirloom Brand isn’t about becoming someone else.
It’s about finally letting your brand reflect who you already are and creating a deep expression of what your work actually does.

An updated look at the Heirloom Brand is live on my site 🪞💕

I love my job, and I love branding and I love marketing psychology. But, I don’t design brands for growth at all costs.

Now, growth isn’t bad, expanding your business isn’t wrong, and more visibility isn’t inherently shallow.

But misaligned growth is expensive.

It costs time, margin, and presence.
And if you’re a mom like me, that cost is likely more than you’re willing to sacrifice.

When Ivania came to me, she wasn’t chasing scale for the sake of saying she’d scaled.

She was rebranding to feel like she was represented in her business, and really speak to *her* people.

The ones who value film, understand slowness, and aren’t rushing the moment. Those who see photography as an heirloom, not just digital content.

A rebrand doesn’t need to be about attracting the masses.
It can be about subtly turning away what doesn’t fit.

Because when your brand is misaligned, you don’t just get the wrong inquiries, but you also build a life around work you don’t actually want more of.

And in my opinion, that’s too high a price.
No pitch here, just gentle truth.

For years, the industry has told us to put the target audience on a pedestal.

Design for them, speak like them, look like what they want you to.

And to be clear, your audience matters. Of course it does. Understanding who you’re speaking to is part of building anything that lasts.

But when the audience becomes the only reference point, the person behind the business disappears and the brand starts to feel more like a costume.

A few years ago, I believed that too.
I built brands that way. I even built my own brand that way.

But somewhere along the line, through motherhood, personal growth, and learning who I actually was outside of what I thought would “work”, that approach didn’t sit right with me anymore.

And specifically for creatives, makers, photographers, wellness professionals… anyone whose work is personal, your brand can’t be separated from who you are.

Branding isn’t empty because strategy doesn’t matter. It’s empty when the soul is edited out.

Thats the work I do. Designing the intangible pieces of who you are and bringing the depth of your work into your brand.

Bri Bischof Photography - a brand that lives at the intersection of grit + refinement.

When Bri came to me, the goal wasn’t to do away with the roots of her brand, it was to honour them while elevating the presentation to speak to a luxury audience - all while capturing the essence of Bri’s personality.

This brand holds two things at once - her raw, western, film-forward vibe and a clientele that values craft, intention, and heirloom-level quality.

Here’s how that balance comes to life -

Custom typography with strong bones, confidence, and a classic feeling.

A simple, timeless palette of charcoal, cream, and brown, with a hit of red to echo Bri’s vibrance and fire.

Hand-drawn illustrations, a bit Americana and intentionally textured to retain that imperfect, lived-in grit (and carrying forward the poppy, a symbol that has long been apart of Bri’s brand)

It’s luxury that still has dirt under its nails. ✨

An outtake from Eventide ✨

An elegant, heirloom-leaning concept with hand-illustrated florals and subtly customized type. This isn’t our final direction, but still full of story.

Sharing the unchosen paths because every brand has them, and they shape the final work just as much as what makes the cut.

If you’re ready to build a brand with depth and intention, my Heirloom Brand offering is open for the months ahead!

Websites aren’t meant to be static. They’re meant to grow.

Recent updates for are a reminder of why regular refreshes matter: clearer package details, updated images, and a blog that acts as a living portfolio, growing with her work instead of sitting frozen in time.

Search engines (and people) notice when a site is active and thoughtfully cared for. Small, intentional updates like these help keep a brand visible, trusted, and easier to find.

If your website needs an update, studio days are the perfect way to do that - a way to refresh, refine and realign your content to reflect where you’ve grown.

Textures, patterns, illustrations, and thoughtful details (alongside her beautiful brand photography) all work together to tell the Seed & Sparrow story.

A brand should be so much deeper than a logo and a few colours. It’s the layers that give it depth and make it feel analog in a digital world. ✉️

I’m officially returning to the studio for 2026, with the same slow pace and interweaving of motherhood and entrepreneurship, plus a renewed sense of purpose.

I have branding services tailored to new businesses preparing for their next season, and for established ones ready to grow into a more thoughtful, cohesive expression of their work.

If that sounds like you, I’d love to connect ☕️💌

Christmas may be over, but winter has only just begun (at least here in Alberta).

I’m finding myself drawn deeper into this season instead of rushing past it. Candlelight in the early mornings. Snow covered trees out my window. Cozy hours indoors with a newborn.

That was the inspiration behind these winter palettes. Not rushing towards spring (as tempting as the marketing world makes it feel as soon as Christmas ends), but letting winter be winter.

The last palette is my favourite - inspired by The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which we’re reading aloud to our older boys right now. Eternal winter, yes, but also courage, warmth and the promise of the thaw.

I think the most beautiful work comes from honouring the season you’re in, rather than trying to escape it 🕯️❄️

Which palette is your favourite?🎨

As I look back on the work that left the studio this year, the thing I feel most is gratitude.

Seventeen brands. Eleven websites. Countless illustrations, packaging pieces, and details that will live on shelves, screens, and in real life. Every single one entrusted to me by a business owner who chose to hand over something deeply personal and say, “I trust you with this.” That never gets lost on me.

This wasn’t a record-breaking year. And it wasn’t meant to be.

It was a year of intention. Of stepping back during a brutal first trimester. Of slow summer days with my kids. Of building beautiful work at a human pace while waiting expectantly for baby number four and the rest that comes with the holidays.

As I look ahead, I’m now booking new projects for mid-February and beyond. I’m endlessly thankful for clients who value depth over speed, meaning over trends, and the life balance that makes my work possible.

And above all else - glory to the God who provides it all.

Here’s to the stories told in 2025, and the ones still unfolding. 🤍

A few favourite glimpses from Schneider Goods Co.

A family business rooted in craftsmanship and care - creating natural skincare and quality home goods. From our very first conversation, our shared values and way of living wove an instant connection, making the process of bringing their brand to life feel less like work and more like kindred collaboration. 🏠 ✨
