She has brought her talent to the Presidential Inauguration, Super Bowl XLVII and the Academy Awards. In 2009, she founded The Julian D. King Gift Foundation to provide stability and support for children of all backgrounds.

Stella Meghie is a film director and screenwriter whose work centers on the multiplicity of black familyhood and the globally-relatable nature of black stories. One of today's very few black women filmmakers, she has created films such as Everything, Everything, The Weekend, and most recently, The Photograph, starring Issa Rae.

A prolific story teller, John Singleton was committed to shining a light on the issues affecting African American communities and allowing film to become a voice for the voiceless. His vision forever changed the trajectory of black films in this country. He became the first African-American and the youngest person to be nominated for an Academy award for best director, at age 24, for Boyz in the Hood.
