Therapists, I’m going to guess that you’re getting A LOT of inquiries in the past year or two. It’s not surprising, since the whole world went through some serious trauma together 🙃😷🤧🦠

BIG IDEA: Hire a branding designer for your retreat 🤯

As people crave human connection again, I see retreats popping up all over the place. Here’s some reasons why this would take your retreat to a whole new level ⬆️

1️⃣ I don’t see this done often. STAND 👏🏼 OUT 👏🏼

A lot of people will give their retreat a name, but they use their normal business branding to market it. Creating a “sub-brand”,if you will, for your retreat will help you stand out while still being recognizable next to your main umbrella brand of your business!

2️⃣ This makes your event MEMORABLE AF.

Imagine giving a retreat branded gift bag to all your guests. Your retreat has its own logo that you put on tumblers, and every time your guests use them they think back to the super fun memories you all made!

3️⃣ Generate buzz.

You can create retreat GIFs for all your guests to use on stories, create a retreat hashtag, send out snail mail before the retreat with branded stickers to get everyone pumped, etc. YUP, that is all about branding!

Part of the Twelve One Design process is presenting you with three different branding options to choose from.

A lot of designers over the past 5 years have adopted the one concept method, and I even tried it for a while.

But after a few projects, it just wasn’t sitting right. I really enjoy presenting my clients with three strong concepts and letting them choose which one feels good.

The only sad part is for every project we have two beautiful concepts that end up staying in the for forever 😭 Pictured here was one of the other concepts for Mind Body Baby, where the super simple shapes each represent the mind, the body, and the baby.

If you’re a designer, do you do the one concept method or present multiple concepts? And if you’re a business owner, would you rather just be given a final concept, or see multiple and pick?

When done right, your website is an invaluable part of your workflow and should increase productivity and booking rates ✨

One quick tip to make your website work harder for you:

👉🏼 Add your affiliate links to your website for added income streams. Not an affiliate for anyone? You’d be surprised how many products you use in business that have affiliate sign ups! Go to their website and check the footer for affiliate info.

For example, I’m an affiliate for (a web hosting and domain name company), for (the Wordpress plugin I use to easily design websites), and for (my favorite physical planners) 💸 I signed up for these programs by just looking on their website and was approved right away!

One of my favorite things to help clients with is choosing a business name. Why? Because it’s IMPORTANT AS HECK to your brand.

A business name can really make or break your brand. A great business name will set the stage for an even greater brand!

There’s decisions like whether or not you should use your personal name or go with something more abstract. What if you get married and change your last name? What if people can’t spell your name? What if it’s too abstract and people don’t understand what I do??

On its 6th business anniversary, Twelve One Design is relaunching, refocusing, and revamping 🏴

The last 6 years have been a winding road for this business, but the last few months have brought a lot of introspection. I, Whitney, have had time to evaluate what I want this business to be, who I want to help, and what kind of life I want to live.

In the last 6 years we have created 15+ brands and 20+ websites and served 30+ happy clients. 3 of those 6 years I was golfing competitively. I got married, moved to Arizona, bought a house, and became a mom. Much like my life, this business has changed, evolved, grown, shrunk, stumbled, and succeeded.

Most of the time running your own business is trial and error. The past 6 years have given me many opportunities for a lot of trial and A LOTTTTT of error. As we approach the 6th biz-versary of TOD, I’m excited to announce where all the trial and error has finally led us to! (Even though the trial and error never ends and we will always evolve and adapt 😂)

This pandemic brought about a lot of negative things, but one positive thing was that it led Margaux and Miranda to start their new staging and interior design business 🛋 and they chose me to help them build a brand and website for their new adventure ✨

Since working together, their business has taken off and they are creating some beautiful work for their clients in Seattle, Washington (which also happens to be my home state 😍)

My latest client project! Nicole Bonia: Lifestyle Blogger and Podcast Host 📚🎙

Goal: Make the brand look like the most chic book club you MUST be a part of 🍸

This project is extra special because this was my first project postpartum, and I’m so blessed that Nicole was my first client back because she was a literal dream to work with 💛

This project was so much fun and made me SO excited to jump back into work after feeling a little lost from taking care of a newborn baby 24/7.

Nicole came to me needing a revived home for her lifestyle blog that focuses on literature. She also wanted a cohesive look for her book review podcast, The Readerly Report. Now her website and podcast have a seamless feel for ultimate brand awareness ✨

For this brand I took inspiration from Nicole’s travel adventures and fun cocktails she would share on her Instagram story! I love it when my client’s personalities can shine through in their brand (which should always be part of the goal with your brand!) ☺️

I am only showing a small peek at the website for now, but will share more when Nicole officially goes live 🥳

This little squish deserved another square on the TOD Instagram cause I mean look at that fit! 😍 I was also about to apologize for the dirty mirror but then I realized a dirty mirror is much more relatable anyways.

Charlie girl, being your momma the past 11 weeks has been the greatest adventure of my life! But I know the best is still yet to come 💕

Also a quick shout out to all my clients who have been so patient with me the last few months!! You all seriously have been so gracious and understanding and it makes me overwhelmed with gratitude. Twelve One could not be what it is without you and I couldn’t be the mama I want to be without you either. You guys know who you are 💕
