Wrapped up HELLO THIS IS JEFF’s 10-year celebration by sending clients & partners past and present a gift package that included a custom loyalty pin set and a ball cap with a black-on-black embroidered logo. The flyer inside the package thanked them for the role they played in helping me reach this milestone and pointed them toward a webpage that provided a visual timeline of the 10-year journey. A decade ago, I set out on this very day with a fresh ambition to start a new chapter in my career, taking what I had learned to launch HellothisisJeff Design – an independent design business that sought to connect mission-minded organizations with the people they needed to reach through an emphasis on professional design, branding, and authentic storytelling.

I’m proud and humbled simultaneously (is that even possible?) to look back and see the results of that dream come to life. Countless churches, organizations, and small businesses are now better equipped with clear branding and targeted messaging to make a lasting impact on the communities they serve.

At the heart of it all has been a loving God who saw me through the hardship of losing my job and opened a door I may have never opened for myself had I not been faced with such a loss. A merciful Savior who has prepared me for this work and never left me wanting. Without Him, I know I wouldn't be standing here 10 years later.

And it goes without saying that I wouldn't be where I am today without the support and unconditional love of my wife Meghan… both my biggest fan and most honest critic. She has literally carried me on her shoulders through the most difficult stretches and never once doubted that I could pull off running a business of my own.

And then there are the client relationships that have endured from year one until now. My life and my work are so much fuller and richer because of these incredible partners.

Finally, I offer my deep gratitude to you, in whatever ways you've supported me in this decade-long journey. I'm humbled to call so many of you friends, and I'm grateful for your continued support. Cheers to ten years and, with God’s help, many more to come!

I recently had the first-time experience of being featured as a guest on the Ambassadors For Business podcast, Connecting Faith and Work, and spoke about my experience running a business with a Christ-centered mission and how I got to where I am... about to hit 10 years out on my own, though very much still learning! I hope you find it encouraging on some level in your own career and faith journey.

Today Jeff shares his passion for telling stories through branding and the importance of getting to know the people and stories behind the brand. He explains how a service mindset is a key part of the work he does.

This week marks the 9-year anniversary of when I stepped out to start my own design business. Since that time, I've never strayed from my mission of bringing agency-level work to the causes that matter most, and that would otherwise be unable to foot the bill for high quality design. Along the way, I've had the pleasure of serving churches, schools, health centers, small businesses, and organizations at work in the mission field around the world and in communities across our nation.

Time and time again, I've experienced the great reward of helping clients overcome the obstacles that keep them from realizing their goals or clearly communicating their message. As they say, helping others is its own reward, and I wholeheartedly agree!

I'm truly grateful to everyone that I've had the pleasure of working with since all this began. Thank you for your trust to do business with me, your generous word of mouth referrals, and the terrific relationships we've formed along the way. Only God knows what the next 9 years will hold, but I'm excited to journey them with all of you!

Great article about how one of my clients, Lawndale Christian Health Center in Chicago, is handling the present crisis. So proud of the hard work each and every health worker and provider are putting in to stand in the gap on behalf of the most vulnerable communities among us.

I want to give a brief report about what is happening in Chicago with LCHC during this pandemic. This will be brief, because they will figure heavily in an upcoming report where we will look at how various organizations are caring for those who are homeless. As the current pandemic has pushed churches to pivot fully to online services, the need for professional graphics, illustration, and branded designs is now clearly more evident than ever to help move people toward virtual community in spite of the barriers of physical isolation. I created this series of graphics for Vineyard Columbus's lead-up-to-Easter series before all this coronavirus trouble began, but it's cool to see them still being used to promote what I'm sure will be completely reimagined online services come Good Friday and Easter.

It goes without saying that I am humbled and grateful to be able to do what I do each and every day – helping craft the brands and identities of the causes that matter most.
