Melting in the heat! This year has been a bumper year for backing track commissions, and orders, and I've worked with some truly outstanding people, long may this continue.. Thank you!

After the awesome start to the year, being very very busy with clients tracks and orders, there was a lull of about a week to enable me to re-install and upgrade both studio machines. Now both machines are running Cubase 8.5 and 10 for maximum compatability, and both machines now have UR824 interfaces. All new 8TB storage on each system, 32GB RAM i7 machines, with SSD 6GB SATA drives..

At the moment, I literally cannot keep up with orders, and have had to momentarily turn clients away. I am behind by about 3 weeks on clients orders, and currently working a 16-20 hour day on backing tracks.

Am I complaining? No Way! I've dreamed of being busy, and giving the best tracks to my clients that I can..

But some sleep would be nice! :D

Oh, and I promise I will update you all on the following FREE SAMPLE DOWNLOAD PACKS..

1 - Percussion.

Tambourines, Maracas, Shakers, Sticks, Me hitting tons of things.. all in high quality .wav format.

2 - Guitarology.

My absolutely massive 2 year project to record virtually anything and everything you might need on acoustic or electric, clean and overdriven. from lead lines off of famous tracks, to generic rhythm tracks. Again all FREE!

Alive Studios was founded in March 2009, 10 years ago.. Its sister company backingtracks.biz was founded a year later.

I started from a £300 self built dual core computer, build on scrap parts and new parts from PC world.. using Cubase SX1, 2 then 3, then in 2011 I upgraded to two i7 32Gb systems and Cubase 6.

with a brief spell using Pro Tools, I switched firmly back to Steinberg, and pretty much all my studio gear is Yamaha/Steinberg.

There are loads of us out there, guitar players and by-day producers of backing tracks, however I strive for perfection, and above all, realistic delivery times, and honesty. I will, and have, said to clients many many times, "I'm sorry that's just not possible, if you want the sound of an orchestra, then.. you're going to need an orchestra.."

however, I can do fake orchestral scores, and pretty much anything can be done the better the tech gets.

already for March I've taken on 17 custom backing track orders..

So, I'd like to just say a very big thank you to all my regular and long standing clients whom I've worked with. You're the reason I'm up till the wee small hours making sure our tracks do what they're meant to do.

backingtracks.biz, the off-shoot sister company to Alive Studios is 9 years old this year too! I grew tired of hearing shoddy backing tracks, that were over mixed, over produced, and left no room for the performing musician.

When writing a backing track, it has to be the bare minimum, yet still sound good, no more than 4-5 instruments, there has to be room for the singer/musician!

This is where a custom backing track, despite being more costly, will be a long lasting investment. If you're serious about your work, and want something that you can say, " hey, this is me at my best" then I can help you. It's just smarter and better sounding having your own backing vocals on your own tracks, then, it's all you. Karaoke is fab, but you'll end up sounding like everyone else!

As a producer of music, I'm growing, learning and improving all the time.
