Press releases all sounding the same? Use these three tips to spice them up!

1) Make sure that your quote sounds like someone would *actually* say it. Your release will sound more organic this way.

2) Avoid language like “proud,” “happy,” and “thrilled.” If you’re writing a press release, it’s safe to assume that you’re pretty excited. Use your quote to tell us why.
3) Be sure to attribute your quotes to someone with a credible title. The higher the title, the more newsworthy your release.

Today, the Astros once again showed us what not to do from a PR perspective. In what should’ve been an apologetic press conference, owner Jim Crane managed to say he shouldn’t be held accountable, his players shouldn’t be held accountable, and that cheating during their most successful season in history didn’t have an impact on the game. Were they cheating for fun, then?
