A friend said to me last week, “Look how far you’ve come.”
And it made me think about how much trust I have had to have in myself to build who I am today.
I made a decision a long time ago that I was no longer available for an average life.
I wanted more - more confidence, better life experiences, a more expansive way of living.
I knew I couldn’t create that by constantly looking outside of myself for reassurance.
I had to learn how to trust myself - which was new territory for someone who didn’t grow up with bags of confidence.
I think this is where so many people stay stuck in the same cycle.
They wait until they feel 100% ready. They hold off until someone else’s says ‘yes, you should definitely do that’, they
keep searching for proof that it is the right decision before they even start.
Years ago, I worked with a mentor who told me to ‘burn the boats’ and to give myself no other option.
Because if you want more out of this life, you have to realise there is no other way. No shortcuts, no quick fixes, no putting it off until you feel 100% ready.
It’s not always easy. I learnt a lot of very valuable lesson along the way. There have been times when things didn’t work out how I planned. But more often than not, they worked out better than I could have imagined.
So if you want different results, at some point you have to stop reading the self-help books and thinking, “I really should start doing this.”
Because your next level will not come from knowing everything in advance. It comes from trusting yourself enough to start.
