PNP NETS OVER 3,600 GUN BAN VIOLATORS IN MAJOR VICTORY FOR PEACE AND ORDER DURING 2025 POLLS

As the nationwide gun ban officially ended yesterday, June 11, 2025, the Philippine National Police (PNP) reported a total of 3,616 arrests and 3,702 fi****ms seized throughout the entire election period. This strong enforcement helped ensure a generally peaceful and credible 2025 Midterm National and Local Elections. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., under whose leadership the government adopted a whole-of-nation approach to secure the polls, was instrumental in fostering this climate of peace and public order.

Based on the latest NEMAC Daily Report, the PNP conducted a staggering 998,679 COMELEC checkpoints nationwide since the start of the gun ban on January 12, 2025. These checkpoints resulted in 265 arrests. Additional operations led to further apprehensions: 1,879 individuals were arrested during police response operations, 556 during anti-illegal drugs operations, 229 from gun buy-busts, 686 during other law enforcement operations (OLEO), and 1 during an internal security operation in Region 5.

Among the 3,616 arrested individuals, 3,462 were civilians, 61 were security guards, 16 were foreign nationals, 21 were PNP personnel (19 active, 1 AWOL, 1 suspended), 19 from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), 14 elected government officials (EGO), 8 members of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary (CAA), 7 other law enforcement agency (OLEA), 3 children in conflict with the law (CICL), 3 from communist terrorist groups (CTG), and 2 from the appointed government officials (AGO).

The NCRPO logged the highest number of arrested individuals at 1,271, followed by Region 3 with 435, Region 7 with 429, and Region 4A with 336. Other regions also reported significant enforcement results, including Region 6 (113), Region 10 (112), and Region 1 (103).

In total, 3,702 fi****ms were recovered. These include 1,317 revolvers, 1,057 pistols, 28 rifles, 28 shotguns, and 908 classified as other fi****ms. Also seized were 79 Class A, 7 Class B, 38 airguns or airsoft guns, 136 replica fi****ms, 15 unclassified, and 89 explosive devices. The fi****ms were seized from various operations: 1,899 from police response, 556 from anti-illegal drug operations, 263 from gun buy-busts, 259 from checkpoints, 724 from other law enforcement efforts, and 1 from an internal security operation.

PNP Chief, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, praised the entire police force and partner agencies for their unwavering dedication to maintaining peace and enforcing the law throughout the election season.

“This success is the result of unified efforts—from the ground personnel manning checkpoints day and night to the support of our communities and the leadership of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who emphasized secure and credible elections as a national priority.”

General Torre also vowed that the momentum will continue: “We will not let up. The conclusion of the gun ban marks a transition, not an end. The PNP remains committed to sustaining peace, preventing gun-related violence, and protecting every Filipino from crime and lawlessness.”

The PNP extends its gratitude to the public for their cooperation and vigilance, and assures continued law enforcement operations post-election to uphold safety and security across the nation.

FIRST PNPA ALUMNUS TAKES HELM AS 31ST CHIEF PNP, CHARTS REFORM-DRIVEN LEADERSHIP

By order of the President of the Republic of the Philippines, Police General Nicolas D. Torre III formally assumed command today as the 31st Chief of the Philippine National Police during the Change of Command Ceremony held at Camp Crame.

A proud son of Jolo, Sulu, who was raised in South Cotabato, and a member of PNPA “Tagapaglunsad” Class of 1993, he makes history as the first PNPA alumnus to lead the 231,000-strong Philippine National Police.

With over three decades of service, PGen Torre held key positions including Provincial Director of Samar and Batangas, Deputy Director of the PNPA, District Director of the Quezon City Police District, and Director of the Communications and Electronics Service.

He is widely recognized for pioneering modern policing strategies, including drone-assisted patrols, the full integration of body-worn cameras in law enforcement operations, and the implementation of the nationally adopted 3-minute response time policy.

Before his appointment as the 31st Chief of the PNP, he served as the Regional Director of Police Regional Office 11 and Director of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, further demonstrating his commitment to upholding justice and public safety.

In his assumption message, PGen Torre outlined a leadership framework founded on three key pillars: swift and responsive public service, unity and morale within the ranks, and accountability through modernization. He emphasized that every Filipino deserves a rapid and efficient police response, vowing to institutionalize a three-minute emergency response time in major urban areas—an initiative he had successfully implemented in Quezon City.

“This is not just a benchmark—it is a lifeline,” he said, committing to strengthen police visibility and presence in streets, markets, and communities to provide safety and peace of mind.

Equally central to his leadership is the belief that the strength of the organization lies in the unity and well-being of its personnel. PGen Torre called for discipline, mutual respect, and leadership by example, and assured police personnel of access to the best training, guidance, and support. “Those who are asked to give all also deserve nothing less in return,” he said.

His third focus is on accountability and modernization, pledging to align the PNP’s systems with the national reform agenda. He committed to upgrading investigative tools and adopting innovations that not only enhance efficiency but also safeguard civil rights. Under his leadership, appointments and assignments will be strictly based on merit and performance. “Real talk lamang. No need for endorsements under my leadership,” he declared, promising that only the most competent will be entrusted with leadership responsibilities.

PGen Torre also called on the entire police force to take pride in doing extraordinary things for the people, emphasizing that genuine service will always be recognized and rewarded. He reiterated his commitment to impartial law enforcement, stating that all laws will be applied equally, regardless of status or nationality.

With deep appreciation for his predecessor and the legacy laid down before him, PGen Torre stood in unity with the men and women of the PNP, declaring readiness to face the challenges ahead.
