With more than 25 years in marketing and communications—crafting everything from marketing plans to press releases—social media has always been a standout favorite of mine. It's where strategy meets storytelling.

Last week, I had the pleasure of sharing “Tosa Tips in 5” at LinkedIn Local Wauwatosa’s event, “State of Real Estate in 2024.” Huge thanks to Tony Meister and Chameleon Communications, David Noel and the Expansive Tosa crew and Sue Gresham for the opportunity!

It’s not easy to pack a bunch of LinkedIn tips into 5 minutes!

Here’s what I focused on:

𝗧𝗶𝗽 #𝟭: 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗣𝗮𝗴𝗲

➡️ Essential for all businesses, a LinkedIn Company Page enhances SEO and builds credibility.

➡️ Include your logo, a professional cover image, a headline and a detailed “about” section with a company description using industry keywords.

➡️ Solopreneurs should maintain a page but primarily post from their personal profile to grow followers more effectively.

➡️ Businesses with employees should post from their Company Page for broader engagement and visibility.

𝗧𝗶𝗽 #𝟮: 𝗘𝗻𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗰𝘆

➡️ Grant temporary admin access to certain employees to invite their connections to follow the page.

𝗧𝗶𝗽 #𝟯: 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗲𝘀

➡️ Your Company Page is a window for job seekers and customers to see if they align with your culture and values.

➡️ Feature your employees and their experiences. Capture photos at team outings, on team Zoom meetings, at tradeshows and volunteering in the community. Showing what happens behind the scenes is important!

➡️ Spotlight your employees’ anniversaries, awards and speaking engagements.

➡️ Showcase customer testimonials and notable projects, share articles, market reports, and industry trends to position the company as a thought leader.

There are so many tips to share—these strategies mentioned above build trust, humanize your brand, enhance your appeal AND help future employees and customers get to know you and decide if they want to work or do business with you.

To all the moms and mother figures out there, Happy Mother’s Day! 🌷

Here’s a photo of me and my mom from a few years ago. She’s no longer with us and would have been celebrating her 99th birthday this summer! Crazy! Yes—she was in her 40’s when I was born! I’m the youngest of five kids.

Here’s a story about one of my clients. When we began working together four years ago, their LinkedIn Company Page had just under 500 followers. Today, it has over 6,000 followers.

Believe me—this didn’t happen overnight—and several factors contributed to the growth. But ONE thing that has helped grow this page and increase its online presence is involving the company’s employees.

How does your organization serve the greater good, and are you sharing it on your company's social media pages?

I read this article today, and I think it nicely aligns with my views on showcasing company culture on social media.

It highlights the benefits of incorporating community involvement into our business agendas, creating the right mindsets and making progress with specific actions.

Here are some of my takeaways:

👉 Engaging employees in community initiatives boosts morale and strengthens teamwork.

👉 Involving customers fosters community engagement and strengthens brand loyalty.

👉 Appropriately sharing your company’s good works (social media included) resonates with others and showcases your company genuinely and authentically.

👉 All of these actions serve the greater good AND contribute to a stronger, more authentic organizational identity.

While planning content for my clients’ social media pages, the topic of Wellness Month came up. It made me think of the things I’ve been doing to enhance my own well-being. One of them is going for daily walks. There is something about walking in nature that is good for the soul! 🍃

🚶🏽‍♀️Walking has been a simple yet powerful way to elevate my overall wellness. It is good for my joints and cardiovascular health and the tranquil nature setting calms my mind, boosting clarity and focus.
